Now, I could be wrong about this, seeing as I've only recently become active again, but it seems to me like there aren't enough Senseis in the Naruto RP section, and it seems like the Senseis we do have are either too overwhelmed with prospective students, or aren't enthusiastic enough about teaching students.

To raise Sensei enthusiasm and to perhaps provide a bit more of an incentive for people to become Senseis, I propose that NB hold some sort of regular (perhaps bi-monthly or monthly) contest to see who is the best Sensei. I don't really have any specifics for this would-be contest (which is not good... I know), but I really think that such a contest should be made.

The contest should make Senseis teach students more, and it should make them teach more students without sacrificing the fabric of the Sensei-student relationship. Such a contest would increase the amount taught to students by Senseis, and would direclty result in an increase in the numbers of Senseis when those students learn enough to become Senseis themselves.

I know this sounds really poorly thought through in regards to the specifics... And that's because it is - I really only just came up with the idea for this contest. Regardless, and as I said before, I think that this contest or something similar to this contest needs to happen, and soon. If something isn't done about the Senseis, NB's RP will just continue in a downward spiral.

I mean, I've had many new RP members come to me asking me to teach them because they can't find a Sensei who will accept them as a student >< I've already promised SO many people that I'd teach them battle strategies and tactics. I'm not a Sensei myself, so this might sound a bit hypocritical, but that's because I've not only provided a great service to NB by teaching MANY students in the past, but also because I don't have enough time to be a Sensei right now, and because I think that I can do more good for NB's RP by teaching strategies and tactics rather than specific jutsus.

I apologize if the issue is currently being addressed by the Mods.

i really dont know what to say xD but most students just want to be taught new moves and dont care about anything more. And some of the students are currently without sensei (I at least have recused teaching 1 or 2 students) because of their attitudes towards us.

They only care about the jutsus for themselves and then they dont give a *** about senseis. I dont like that and that's the reason why i dont have too many students: because of that and because im doing exams.

Thats not true :|

I care about my teachers, there fun to chat with :)
Akiza and mugi :D

I know being trained so i could rp was a main part of it but its great to get to know the senseis while you train and feel more apart of the comunity, though you deserve respect and gratitude....

Back on topic, i think its a rather a good idea, sensie of the month competition or something :D

It could be a simple contest like Sensei of the Month. Just have a thread open for a month and have the students nominate the sensei they think deserves the award and then choose the 4 senseis who got the most nominations. Then open a voting thread with those 4 senseis and 2-3 training threads they were involved in for that month. Then the students or whoever could read over those threads and vote for whichever sensei they believe did the best job. You could vote based on different criteria like friendliness, effort, writing style, etc. Then whoever gets the most votes gets an award.

That actually sounds pretty interesting...

Although, the award probably shouldn't be a medal. The goal of this would be to get senseis more active, but people hardly care for medal awards anymore. At least not people who've been on NB for a while. Dunno what the prize could be, but if the goal here is to get senseis active, then medals aren't the way to go. =/

Maybe special items can be given out to the winners? Or maybe some sort of special privileges like teaching certain things.

I think this idea is great
i only have one bio aproved since a long time and only Alucard Riku.. and Vergil.. had agreed to train me, at first i was buggin all the senseis but i stop and forgot i had a bio
my last training was telling Alucard what is fire, that was my first training and last but im ok with it, they all have their lives just like i do
and this idea is great
it could be a sensei aplication in like 2 months or something
or the senseis announced who are there students so anybody else will stop asking if they can train them
also maybe just maybe there senseis who just wanted to become senseis just to be known by everybody in NB
so if they dont want to be bugged tell that your tired of being a sensei.
By the way there the aproving bios i mean my bio was just aproved by a favor in like a month, and i see bios that they only have 1 day of posted and they already been aproved like Hessbadass?s or Bishamonsama?s
i have nothing against the senseis, mods or admins
i just want the Rping to be fair for all of us.

I don't really see how contests will motive senseis to teach more students O_O
Anyway, most of the newer RPers dont care about tactics or battle strategies, they just want to get the highest rank of a jutsu so that they can battle, and they want it as fast as possible, so I basically try to train them as fast as possible, and with the best description of the techs as possible.

They haven't complained to me, and I haven't complained to them, so theres no problem, but if they want further training, like battle strategy, I'd be happy to do thorough training, explaining stuff in high detail.
^I don't really think the text above has anything to do with the topic of this thread though xd

The contest could be quite fun though :p

Mugiwara, it's the Sensei's job to decide WHAT to teach his students; the students are there to learn from the Sensei - they're there to follow the Sensei's lead because, whether they realize it or not, they don't know what they should be taught.

I mean no offense by this, but you seem to misunderstand the point of the Sensei system. Senseis are not supposed to take requests from their students as to what to teach them. On the contrary, Senseis are supposed to decide what their students need to learn, and then to teach it to them.

It honestly doesn't matter if a student is interested in only learning uber powerful jutsus. If that's the case, it's the Sensei's job to temper that student and teach them patience, while slowly feeding them jutsus. The Sensei is not supposed to just go ahead and teach the students any and every jutsu.

I'm not sure if you remember this person, but I once had a student named Elias. He was concerned only with learning the most powerful jutsus as possible as quickly as possible. On purpose, I taught him very slowly, diligently, and deliberately. As a result, he was learning jutsus at a slower rate than other students, but he was becoming more patient, and he was really learning HOW to use the jutsus. I taught Rag the same way, and he's obviously become a very capable battler.

Teaching slowly won't bore your students to the point where they leave the site. They will gain respect for you for teaching them in this way, and because of that, they'll keep on coming back, and will eventually accept the rate at which you teach, and they will become better battlers with that acceptance.

A contest would certainly encourage Senseis to teach more. It provides an actual incentive for them to do what they are supposed to do, and it provides an incentive (other than sheer vanity) for others to become Senseis.

....long rant lol xd

I just became sensei not very long ago, so I'm still a junior sensei, and what I meant with that asking students what they wanna learn is for example what element they want to start with, since people usually have several senseis, so its not of my interests to teach them something they've already learned before, but the rest of what you said, thanks ;) Really good tips and hints on how to handle the students ^^ I'll try that :p
