Who has copy rights to Mythology? No one alive today from that time or you have law suit from using the name Hercules, Thor Set and so forth till the end of time.

u cant have copyrights to mythology (or anything passed 100 years).

before i googled son goku, i assumed it was a random name the author came up with, and being the main character, i figured he copyrighted said name.

now that i know its the name of some deity, obv anyone can use.


I google kurama, and i did not find it linked to any mythological creatures.
someone mentioned that kurama is the name of the demon fox in another anime series.

maybe japan has special litigation conditions when it comes to manga characters idk, because kurama is definitely a "known" entity from another manga.

Nine-Tails name is Kurama and Kurama was from YuYu Hakusho I think he was a fox demon

Thank you, everyone seems to miss this, LOL. Not only was kurama a fox demon from yu yu hakusho, but he was a redhead fox demon(well, most of the time anyway, LOL). Maybe naruto will take on a youko form too? haha!

but yea, seriously, what everyone else said. If you're looking to tear it apart for rip offs, the yu yu hakusho one is more blatent, though i'm sure kishi had permission to refrence both.

So i read the latest chapter where it was revealed tailed beasts have names.

coincidentally, the 4-tails is a giant ape named Son Goku.

I think he might have paid some royalty for the use of the name/image. I dont see family members of akira toriyama taking this silently!

Akira Toriyama didn't come up the name. Son Goku is the name of the monkey King from the famous tale of the Monkey king and is a name from Japanese legends and myths. So no copyright problems.

Use search button next time or look at other threads for at least 2-3 pages before making a new one on the same topic.
