If Deidara can get on his bird and take flight before Itachi closes the distance, he wins. Basically the same scenario against Sasuke goes down: he uses C4 Garuda, Itachi sees the nano bombs with sharingan and uses shunshin to escape its range, while he uses genjutsu to "deceive" Deidara and make him think he's won. Then Itachi would jump onto Deidara's bird and land a fatal hit...except Deidara would see through the genjutsu from the beginning and catch Itachi in the same

Sasuke couldn't dodge C2 because he was boxed in by the landmines.

Even Base Hebi Sasuke displayed that he was able to dodge a C2 bomb, but required CS2 flight to evade Deidara's landmines.

Itachi is portrayed to be faster and Databook further supports this. Inner Sakura further supported that Itachi, despite being in such a weakened state, managed to react and evade moves from Hebi Sasuke point-blank. Itachi has no problems evading C2 or avoiding the landmines (if Deidara can even set them up).

And why would he jump on the bird and try to land a fatal hit when all he has to do is use a long range attack to take out the bird while Deidara is fooled by the Genjutsu? Itachi has no super strong close range move like Chidori so going in close to finish him off is a terrible idea.

Yea you're right. Never mind then, the only way Deidara can possibly is if he can do what he did to Sasuke. Lower his altitude and allow Itachi to use Genjutsu on him. Itachi doesn't know anything of Deidara's Genjutsu counter so when he goes to attack he'll be attacking a Neno Bunshin and he'll be immobilised.

Katon or Exploding Clone. Only reason Sasuke was immobilized is because he stuck his hand into Deidara's clone.

What attack can he use to take out the bird at an extreme close range? Sasuke would have done so if he could. And Deidara sees through 3T genjutsu, he's not getting fooled.

No, Deidara let himself be hit with Genjutsu in order to deceive Sasuke. He could break it within an instant and he did so.

If Deidara is in Genjutsu then no, he can't dodge it. When was Exploding Clone tanked by Suiton? Either way, what puts Deidara's body or his bird at that level regardless?

Against Sasuke? He saw through genjutsu. When did he get caught?

-Sasuke gets hit by C4 after piercing the Clay Clone.
-Deidara sees him disintegrate.
-Deidara rejoices.
-The Sharingan image appears over his head.
-Sasuke punches him in the face.
