3rd Person Vs 1st Person

Which to you perfer in a game do you like a First person where you see what the charater sees or Third person where you see the surrounding area around the character...? Also do you perer unrealistic games like Gears of War or are you more toward realistic games like Call of Duty?

Lets say a hypethidical situation befell you, you have two games placed infront of you, you can only play one you know nothing about either title all you know is the left one is 1st person and the right one is 3rd person which do you pick up and play?

(As you can see this is a bordem thread and I just wanted to get people's opinons on what they like)

I think first person was always best in action games, and third person best in strategy games

depends on the game i'm playing. Most shooters i prefer first person, and i mean the realistic ones. I play Halo sometimes at friends and then i think first person wouldn't be that good. And i don't like non-realistic weapons, except black ops zombies, there it's fine to have 2 non-realistic weapons when playing with friends. But when i play it alone or campaign must be realestic. That's how i want it

I wanted to know what you like best though I know it depends on the game but if you had no previous knowlege on a game and there were two placed in front of you would you pick the 1st person or the 3rd person?

Depends on the game I'm playing as always, you can't simply make a pre-meditated decision about 1st vs. 3rd IMO, I've played too many 1st peron games and 3rd person games which have been as good as eachother , irrelvant of the fact that they are 1st or 3rd.

It doesnt effect the game for me at all in fact I would like to be able to switch between them at any time simply because I get bored of a single view no other reason.

You're reflecting on the games, not the fact that they are 1st or 3rd though; i.e. which view you prefer, not what the game contains.

games doesn't have to be realistic but for me i like 1st Person
