Ok I already wrote all this out once but it got deleted *sigh.

Here goes.

Right well there are in total according to this 3 treasures in total.

The Yata Mirror, The Sword of Totsuka and the Magatama Jewel.

Now we know Itachi had 2 of these.

Yata & Totsuka.

Yata - Reflected any attack
Totsuka - Put an opponent in a lifelong Genjutsu even from a scratch.

Along with Susanoo = the ultimate defense + ultimate LTL offence.

Now if you pay attention to the manga you will know exactly where you have seen the magatama jewels before.

Heres what wiki says about them.

"The regalia represent the three primary virtues: valor (the sword), wisdom (the mirror), and benevolence (the jewel)"

Definiton of benevolence:

"1. disposition to do good
2. charitable kindness
3. an altruistic gift or act"

Now I know what you'll be thinking "ok who has them then" or "where are they then"

Well what if someone already had them.

Thats right Itachis Gift to Naruto.

We know Itachi Possessed 2 out of 3 but he couldnt have shown the 3rd gift in the Sasuke vs Itachi fight as he had already given it to Naruto.

Now there will be a bunch of questions in your head:

Why do you think Naruto has them
How did Itachi get them
What will the jewels ability be
etc etc etc

I will try and answer some (In theory obviously)

Well Naruto here:

Everyone who noticed these knows they came from here.

Now in regards to HOW Itachi got them....I have an idea.

We know that Totsuka & the Yata mirror are not actually physical objects and he used Susanoo to get them...so maybe the Magatama are the same.

" Orochimaru sought the sword and Zetsu commented that he could never find it because it doesn't actually have a physical form"

So maybe to use the jewels Naruto needs to bring them into physical form and thats why their not doing anything just now.

Again I believe Naruto will die but in a benevolent act to say save Sasuke from being killed by Madara.

The Magatama will then activate and Naruto needs to find them in Purgatory i.e. inbetween life & death. When he finds them he comes back to life with the Magatama round his neck. (Thats my theory anyway)

Now I believe that you need the traits of the weapons to weild them as I said above.

"The regalia represent the three primary virtues: valor (the sword), wisdom (the mirror), and benevolence (the jewel)"

We know Itachi had plenty of valor and wisdom. And we know he made a lot of benevolent acts to save his brother BUT he wasnt exactly a saint.

So maybe Itachi couldnt use the Magatama he just...found them.

I know there are a lot of holes to be filled questions to be answered but I think well I'm pretty much 100% positive Itachis gift was the Magatama.

huh?

If your meaning Tsunade's necklace i.e. the 1st's necklace then no I'm not.

That necklace just supressed Bijuu f/e that would be useful to the SOSP if it supressed the Juubi but just think about this...

The necklace is destroyed....

Good theory man, i didnt look that much into it but now youve brought it to light it really makes sence, although i feel it will be Kabuto who tries to kill Sasuke not Madara.
with Naruto knowing the truth about Madara being responsible for his parents death, its likely that hell be finishing off Madara asap.
Smart guy though, only fitting you have a picture of Shikamaru as your avatar :)

This theory has been done before loads of times, the magatama is nothing new to us.
IMO Pain had the magatama necklace or some form of it and naruto in his new form has some sort of depiction of the necklace. The magatama was first seen on the rikudou sennin however, so it must be some sort of sage of the six paths correlation other than Itachi and Susunoo...

I dont think this looks like a Magatama necklace.

And whose to say the SOSP didnt have the Yata and another Kusanagi sword + the Magatama??

Also I know this thread has probably been done before but I doubt its been done in this much detail - not boasting - but most threads I see like this have a question - statement/theory/idea - little or no evidence.

"The necklace that the Sage wore might be a reference to the Yasakani Jewel; a legendary magatama necklace that is part of the Japanese Imperial Regalia, together with the Kusanagi Sword and the Yata Mirror. The Yasakani Jewel is the only one of these treasures yet to make an official appearance in the series." Narutowikia.

Its possible.

We all know pain was a lesser form of the real rikudou, so that would give kishi the incentive to make a lesser form of the magatama. I was just trying to make the point that it could connect naruto with rikudou because of the depictions of that necklace.
If i remember rightly, in Japanese mythology, Susunoo used both mirror and sword to defeat the Yamata no Orochi. Which we saw at the end of the Itachi v Sasuke fight, no where does it say in manga or mythology context that susunoo possessed the Magatama.
