[Discussion] 2nd Hokage IS the MOST VILE ninja in Naruto

if it was during the great war then it was absolutly worth doing, think about it, what would you rathr do: Throw your chuunin and jounin into certain death, or capture the enemy, use him for the jutsu, and pit the enemy against their fallen comrades?

That means for every one converted enemy they would have to capture two enemies or be willing to sacrifice one of their own. Have you ever seen a war? Do you realize how unlikely it would be to take that many hostages? Especially ones of high enough level to make them worth turning into Edo Tensei. Plus you would have to kill your enemy before converting them, and if you can kill your enemy just keep him dead. Look just because you like Tobirama(I do too) doesn't negate the fact that in the Naruto Universe he should be seen as scum for creating such a devious jutsu.

Well he did make it a forbidden jutsu shortly after making it and he didnt use it which is why he couldnt master it. He probably came up with it after researching how to bring a loved one back to life, most likely it was hashirama.

If that's true then how did Edo Tensei get released to the world? Because Tobirama wrote it down. If he declared it "truly" forbidden he wouldn't have left any trace of how to perform it, instead he left step by step instructions for people like Orochimaru to discover, if he was so displeased with his creation he should have taken it to his grave. People stop trying, there is no justifying Tobiramas creation.

Don't bash a genius who could revive people, just because kishi decided to use a character who we really know nothing about except that he created a touchy jutsu as a form of plot development, what about 1000 years of death? Or the books kakashi reads? He's a hokage and should be respected as such.

2nd hokage is an awesome ninja...
imagine how much knowledge you could get if you could be able to bring back people from the afterlife,

At that time, shinobi were actually like ninjas. they killed in cold blood for the sake of their village. there wasnt good or evil, it was simply do what must be done for your village. Nonstop war against other villages, fighting dirty is the only way to fight. As time passed everyone softened up and stuff and let go of the old ways(abandoning allies for the mission, blood mist requirements, trying to stop revenge)

Its as simple as that. back then Edo-Tensei was probably just a great tool for war, now, its a vile evil technique that uses people. Remember since part 1 most of the older shinobi's always referred to themselves as tools (Zabuza, Haku, Ginkaku, Kinkaku, etc.) They werent even allowed to be seen crying, now everyone bursts into tears and stuff. i kinda wished the series revolved around the dark/barbaric times oif the narutoverses past

i think you are over thinking it...if they capture two genin, they can summon whomever they have...i guess stashed away. It would be smart to have deceased enemies of the leaf in their possession (at the time) so no you wouldnt HAVE to kill one of the enemies there..

Also I'm not a fan of Tobirama, just thinking rationally

By finding a random stranger and sacrificing them so that The family of the sacrifice can use Edo-Tensei to meet their dead family member by sacrificing someone else, creating an never ending chain of human sacrifices. Tobirama's plan was perfect

This is something I've been thinking about lately especially after reading so many Tobirama is awesome posts.

The Edo Tensei is being referred to as an abomination to the ninja world/ a most unforgivable jutsu etc. right?

Well seeing as how Tobirama created this jutsu that would make him one of the lowest shinobi in history right? I'm not saying weak but disgraceful. If Edo Tensei is such a vile jutsu why is its' creator being held in such high regards? Do all of his other feats compensate for the fact that he created one of the most disgusting jutsus in use to the bnaruto universe?

For a matter of fact it's not just Edo Tensei but that close to everything we know about him had a negative effect of sorts.

However, of course you are right regarding it and Nidaime though I always thought of him as the Danzo of his time, just not as extreme.
But being willing to go to extreme lengths to defend his village.

However his other feats easily compensate for it.
Afterall it was Nidaime who:
Built the Ninja Academy - Thus Konoha was blessed with powerful Ninja.No need to name them I suppose.
Created the Chuunin Exams - Thus allowing the Ninja of the Academy to improve by taking on young Shinobi/Kunoichi from other villages and by doing so he brought villages closer together.
He created the ANBU thus inventing a Ninja Squad who defend Konoha from the shadows.
And of course creating the Uchiha Police - Striking 2 birds with a stone.
Increasing Village safety while keeping an eye on them.

So I am sure he is a double-edged sword.
On one hand his actions are highly risky though also had benefits for the village.
I am sure he had good intentions just that things didn't work out as he wanted to.
Regarding Edo Tensei:
Sure it's an evil Jutsu but I do believe that he would have never wanted it seen to be put to such use but rather an absolute last resort Jutsu and it could possibly even be used to revive the enemy thus gathering information or letting them to be used to aid Konoha in battle.

So in the end I say Good Intentions, Partially Bad Methods but always Konoha in his heart.
