It's cuz he(or his music if you wanna make the distinction) is multifaceted. Using his music for 50 shades was really just shine for himself.

U can say the same about empire's music in a sense, using tv shows and pepsi commercials as a springboard to get your content out.

I don't like the weekend because he sounds like a broke man's Michael Jackson. Some people really like that, but I don't. :pick:

I mean, on the musical front, you have to like his genre of like, Dirt Hip-Pop, but as an artist, no one is really messing with him vocally.
Chris Brown, August Alsina, and Trey Songz are grossly outsang by The Weeknd.
TBH, I don't enjoy the Michael Jackson comparisons, as he uses completely different subjects, and MJ wasn't the greatest vocalist.
TBH, only current men outsinging him are Ed Sheeran and Usher.

His enunciation is weird to me. And in his songs he kinda slur his words together xd
Yeah lmao.

Nah, I can't agree with this. I don't think vocally he sounds better than Chris Brown or Trey Songz, maybe August. I agree that Ed Sheeran has the strong male vocals in the game right now. That boy can sing.

Can you even describe how one sound is better than the other, especially a voice? All can carry a tune, all can reach varying levels of volume and pitch, all are pleasant sounding. I don't think there's any way to say "Yeah, he sounds better because-" Either you think they're better or you don't at this point I think, which is where personal taste comes in. At this point, it's really just "I like xyz better."

Agreed. His music has been pretty trill and popular, which is exactly the type that attracts Grammys.
I actually think he has the best album of 2015, if you're looking at it from a body of art perspective. Unless of course you Factor In TPIB or 2014FHD, which are the best rap albums of the decade.
Beauty Behind the Madness was amazing.
His best songs as a whole are probably.
1.Love Me Harder ft Ariana Grande
2.Dark Times Ft Ed Sheeran
3. Trust Issues
4. Wicked Games
5. Tell Your Friends.
Listen to those they're fire.

Vocally, Trey Songz has a short range, unless you want to hear his deadly falsetto.
I would agree is more debatable, but his voice is kinda weak.

Listen to Earned It, then Dark Times to know exactly what I mean, he has monumental range, and it never cracks.

The Weeknd
-Doesnt use auto tune
-Can Perform live (which Trey Can't)
-and has a bigger range than Chris.

You can't hear it in any of his singles other than Earned It. Listen to Love Me Harder and Dark Times, then I will willfully debate it.
