As some of you may already know (who live in Toronto or around it ) this case has drawn much controversy in Toronto and its pissing me off that some people side with the police on this case.

Here is a link to the national post article detailing everything :

My take on this turn of events:
in point form
- No one for the kid to harm
- lethal force was used when unnecessary
- act of police brutality/wanna be vigilante
- possible act of racism

Explanation below. Please read

WHAT IN THE FK MAN. Okay 18 year old kid with a knife orders EVERYONE OFF the bus. I understand carrying a knife around is wrong but if citizens were all so good we wouldn't need police officers who enforce LAW. It is ILLEGAL to threaten with a weapon obviously HOWEVER how this situation was dealt with is completely irresponsible on the police's side.

Why you might ask? 22 police officers were witnesses and 10-11 were there at the time. The kid was at the front of the bus with his knife, not even on the stairs since he was not visible in the video on the stairs.

The police officer in question then proceeded to shoot the kid 9 times and tasered him afterwards.

What should have been done.. Rush the kid, shoot him in his arm shoot somewhere else non lethal. 10 police officers restraining a 18 year old kid with a knife... That's very realistic.

The argument made against me : "This isn't a movie, you cant shoot someone in their knees/arms without bystanders being harmed" "HE WAS A CRIMINAL HE DESERVED TO DIE"

What bystander was there in the firing line... I call BS.

I speed all the time.. Not the point of not controlling my car , does that mean I deserve to die?

Why not wait for the taser you requested and fire warning shots. Tasering him = hes still alive, find out why he's doing this and treat him if hes mentally ill. THEREFORE PREVENTING FUTURE ISSUES.

What this REALLY means is if this action is repeated in the past the criminal will die. Canada does not have the death penalty. Therefore criminals should be restrained not killed unless absolutely necessary.

This was hardly a case to kill the kid..

ADMINS PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME

BASE MEMBERS tell me what you think!

What if the kid had firearms? Or explosives? We just had a serious act of terrorism in Chicago.

Either way this stuff always happens. Some kid got shot years ago for having a water gun.

I'm sure the police could have detained him easily without killing him, cases like these happen so frequently and many get unheard of.

The police seem to watch too many movies..
I couldn't think of a good reason and I challenge someone to give me a good reason to zap the guy after shooting him..

Totally understandable but at that point he was a rogue. He had no firearms, if we worry about what ifs the case relevance is blurred. He only had a knife on him. If he had pointed a gun thats a totally different case in which case I would consent to this outcome.

Exactly, there is an inquiry into 3 other deaths of mentally ill people in Toronto right now.

Thank you ^ Thank you so very much. This would have taken him down. and no he did not ! He removed everyone from the bus, he was ALONE.

In my opinion, once you threaten the lives of others seriously with intent to carry it out, you forfeit your own. Yes, they definitely could have handled it better, and not be so trigger happy, but the kid dying isn't the issue for me, it's how. A few shots would have done fine.

Edit: I agree with one of those guys above me. Rubber bullets should have been used.

This is just like the Police killing a dog situation. In my opinion, there could of been another way to handle it without killing.

The thing is tho he didn't... He just had the knife and didn't point it at anyone since all the people on the bus were already off of it. What if he was mentally ill? We will surely have more of these people in the future, don't you believe that his being captured would have helped the future?

if not for mentally ill cases for other youths at risk of becoming what he was?

Someone only has to attempt to draw a gun for a police officer to shoot him, he might have made a gesture or movement that was misunderstood. Some guy got shot for trying to take out his license and registration.

I think they should have tased him instead of shooting him repeatedly, or shoot him with bean bags or whatever they do, its sad to see police kill ppl in cold blood like that.

The reason he shot is because the kid moved his foot. Also if he had a gun like I said that's a different story. do you not believe Police should be trained as law enforcement agents to deal with things like this? We aren't at war, he's living here just like us (Torontonians)

They were waiting on a taser apparently? But he had it after the first shot was fired so he should have tasered him or just talked to him. Where was the crisis intervention team? power trip cop imo

Nope.. No one knows what the motive was since he was shot dead -.-" Stupid cops man. Everyone of his friends / people at school said he never showed any signs of criminal activity. Most believe mental illness to be the cause.

Wait, no one was on the bus? The f*ck were ten cops even there for?!

Actually 10 were there initially, 22 were witness to the shooting itself.

1. Terrorism is the same as war, individual groups or persons waging war on the general public or a select group of people. This happened in Chicago, and as is shown in Chicago, even American citizens can be terrorists.

If you think about the situation, the police have a right to be extremely suspicious of someone who has evacuated a bus and is possibly holding citizens hostage. Why would someone evacuate a bus and mill around with only a knife? It doesn't seem likely, so the police might has suspected more. Though I do agree that a apprehension shot or suppression methods would have been more suitable. But it is possible for him to have been planting explosives within or on the bus.

The kid should've dropped the knife, easy at it gets.

When the police tells you to drop a lethal weapon you should do it to avoid trouble, if he didn't do that he knew what the consequences could be.

he didn't have any hostages though! And not possible considering he was on the bus in public. However I understand your suspicion. You're very analytical and I respect that.

if the kid is mentally ill.. He won't respond properly. So basically if you don't listen to the police you know you'll die? Thats silly and sounds like a dictatorship.
