Hec, dont go bringing dull names. Its just 1 arc and thats the 4th Shinobi war.
Besides, didnt Madara return before the Juubi and he has always been there. Why split it up?
I didn't make it up. The "return of Madara" arc started after Madara's revival by Rinne Tensei.

Read it in one go and it's amazingly done. Tried myself. And what do you know,my brother is still on chapter 600 only waiting for the manga to reach 700 or get finish,to read it in one go,yeah that's how he usually reads manga,no discussion,no forum membership, nothing and on obito's reveal his reaction was like,"OMFG! This is what you call a plot twist, brilliant".

The war started at chapter 516 and that chapter came out about 3 years ago.

3 years of chapters = 1-2 days in Narutoverse

How freaking long, it's 3 years! I believe this is the reason why people feel like the war was dragged on for too long, and they feel quite tired of it.

Nevertheless, it's not a one whole arc, it actually consists of 3 arcs as of now, if you don't know.
  • 4th Shinobi World War arc
  • 10-tails revival arc
  • Return of Madara arc
OT: Do you think that the fight with the 4 kages (Muu, Trollkage, Gaara's father and 3rd Raikage) wasn't really necessary?
The real problem is the length of the war, if the war took months, hell, maybe even weeks, it would be a little more tolerable.

Yeah, the pacing has been absolutely atrocious.

One of the worst I've ever seen tbh.
While that may be true, reading the manga as a whole afterwards flows a lot better and actually makes it more interesting. Maybe not super interesting still but a lot less annoying than it is reading a chapter once a week. In the manga volumes you don't even notice that it's split into chapters.
^^^^ Kyuurama got the answer....

I personally have been a fan for nearly 1 year, and i have till this point enjoyed every release it gives me a special type of feeling when I read a new chapter, I would have to agree that the war has been dragged on, but the fight with the 4 kage and swordsmen had impact on the story.

no bro it's three arcs he is right

Hec, all the manga av read, there is a clear distinction between the arcs.
These 3 events happened same time in same area. There is no clear difference.
Its just like dividing Pain arc into...Pain invasion arc and Naruto Arrival arc.
Its all in the Shinobi war.

Yes the manga is terrible.
Windows: start menu>log out
Mac: Apple logo > shut down
iPhone/ipad/iPod touch: hold power button> swipe to shut off
Android phone/tablet: hold power button and follow turn off instructions
If all else fails, pull out any visible battery....just get off the internet period for this comment

Then it wouldn't have been a war and the storyline would have been stunted.

People can't have it both ways, they either want character development or they don't. But when the War Arc was partly made for that, people still complain.

And as Kyuurama, noted, it only feels dragged because we've been spoon-fed bits every week. But, as a whole it's paced well and flows nicely.
This man deserves a medal

So I am not the only then? I'm happy. Even though the arc could've been better, reading this way makes the arc less annoying than it actually seems.
Kishi's way of writing is:

Volume 1:
- Ch00
- Ch01
- Ch02
- Ch03

Volume 2:
- Ch04
- Ch05
- Ch06
