The war started at chapter 516 and that chapter came out about 3 years ago.

3 years of chapters = 1-2 days in Narutoverse

How freaking long, it's 3 years! I believe this is the reason why people feel like the war was dragged on for too long, and they feel quite tired of it.

Nevertheless, it's not a one whole arc, it actually consists of 3 arcs as of now, if you don't know.
  • 4th Shinobi World War arc
  • 10-tails revival arc
  • Return of Madara arc
OT: Do you think that the fight with the 4 kages (Muu, Trollkage, Gaara's father and 3rd Raikage) wasn't really necessary?

While that may be true, reading the manga as a whole afterwards flows a lot better and actually makes it more interesting. Maybe not super interesting still but a lot less annoying than it is reading a chapter once a week. In the manga volumes you don't even notice that it's split into chapters.

I think most of the edo fights weren't necessary. The war should have started with the Kage vs Madara, Naruto + Bee vs Obito.
Then it wouldn't have been a war and the storyline would have been stunted.

People can't have it both ways, they either want character development or they don't. But when the War Arc was partly made for that, people still complain.

And as Kyuurama, noted, it only feels dragged because we've been spoon-fed bits every week. But, as a whole it's paced well and flows nicely.

I love the show but their has been way too much talking/slow backstory. The war would have been better/faster if character development on fodders and irrelevant characters had been told prior to war. This would have made more time for fight scenes w/out having to interrupt the battle for boring flashbacks. Return of the king has been my favorite Arc so far but this bullshit with random power ups/asspulls to defeat an OP god is ruining the story for me:eww:

I will admit this war feels as if It'ss been dragged out a bit, especially the juubi revival arc where they spent some sixty chapters fighting Obito

The paradox and effed up thing about it is that it also feels a little rushed in parts with things cut short or cut out completely lols like the seven swordsmen of the mist, Mu, Chiyo, Kimimaro, Hanzo, Sasori, Deidara, Zabuza and Haku. I really REALLLLY wanted drawn out fights and backstories for the swordsmen and for them to play pivotal roles in the war like the edo kages and gold and silver brothers. They were expanded on some in the anime, but it wasn't enough and it wasn't canon.

Lol, Narutoworld where the sun always shines...Honestly, after that night when Zetsu clones struck fear, there hasnt been any nights again. Its obvious Madara used a jutsu to hold the sun...lol

Yeah, it do feel kinda lacking a bit. On the other hand, it feels like quite excessive too. LOL Lol

Hec, dont go bringing dull names. Its just 1 arc and thats the 4th Shinobi war.
Besides, didnt Madara return before the Juubi and he has always been there. Why split it up?
