History: Sōji was born from a samurai family in the Land of Iron in the care of his older sister after their parents death when he was 7 years, Sōji as a 9 year old child with his sister Mitsu,Who's leaving him in Kondō's care an older Samurai with formidable skill. At the age of 9, Sōji was in the care of Kondō and lived in the dojo. Okita was extremely cagey and Refused to open himself up to anyone. Although he was initially a live-in student at the Kondō's Dojo. Sōji was treated more as a servant and was beaten by the other (and older) students in the dojo, leaving Sōji with bruises which worried Kondō, Despite Him Scolding the other students to not beat up on Sōji anymore, this only lead to more sever beatings for sōji by the other students. Kondō's heart only sinks more for Sōji when he sees him standing outside the dojo looking out in the direction of where his home once was. Kondō tries to console Sōji by telling him how hard it must have been for his sister to leave her adorable little brother.
Sōji begins to vent a little at Kondō saying how his parents abandoned him with their deaths and now his sister abandoned him. Kondō attempts to comfort Sōji, telling him that nothing happens without reason and that despite Sōji's hardships there must be a reason for it all. Sōji then asks Kondō if he was the one who told the other students not to hurt him anymore and shows Kondō all the bruises and whelps on his shoulders, received from the other students who beat him with wooden sword calling him a "snitch." One day, Kondō decided to let his students have a sword fight. Okita was hit on the forehead leaving a cut and blood flowing out. Kondō immediately wanted to stop the match to treat sōji's wound, however Sōji desperately protests and begs Kondō to allows him to continue. Kondō hesitantly agrees and allows sōji to keep sparring. Sōji begins to fight more and more fiercely and eventually gets a winning hit in, but without thinking, Sōji doesn't stop fighting and starts beating on his opponent, not realizing what he's doing. Kondō rushes in to stop Sōji before he severely hurts the boy telling him that he won the match.
Kondō hugs Sōji and tells him is proud of him he is. Sōji then begins to open up to Kondō and tells him that he came to the dojo so he can follow "Kondō-san."
