Background Info.
History: Marik was born into a poor family living within Amegakure. However, to give their son a better life, his parents took him to Kirigakure while he was very small. His parents were lowly servants of greater ninja, but were common people themselves, a path Marik wanted to avoid. So he went about to find those who could teach him the ways of the ninja. Through his training and hard work, Marik slowly became a great ninja, being able to master the five basic elements and genjutsu. His power and abilities, especially for not having any Kekkei Genkai of his own, quickly spread throughout Kirigakure. He gained a reputation as "The Great No One", in reference to his lack of special abilities. As a testiment to his great feats without special powers, Marik was gifted with a rod of unknown power by the Daimyo of the Water Country.
He took on many challenges and mission which took him anywhere from around the corner in Kirigakure, to all the way across the nations to Iwagakure. Through his travels, Marik became stronger, and the name "The Great No One" spread everywhere. Marik could soon go no where without some ninja reckonizing him.
One day, during Marik's travels outside of his missions work, he stumbled upon an acient land known as the Demon Country. He felt a strange aura throughout the land, and decided to investigate further. Through his investigations, he found a dark mountain where the aura seemed to be comming from. Curious, Marik climbed to the top of the ominous figure.
When he reached the summit, he found what almost seemed like a small village, with a moat and large walls surrounding it. He stumbled forwards, called by an unexplainable force, and then blacked out.
When Marik awoke, he found himself strapped to a slab of earth, unable to move. When questioned about how he found the village, known as Minas Morgul, Marik truthfully answered that he had no idea. He then realized that his rod was gone. When his jailer came closer, Marik spat on his face and cursed him.
The jailer merely laughed, and then another man entered the room. He asked the question of how Marik ended up in Minas Morgul again, to which Marik only responded with he was traveling and felt an aura of power. When quetsioned who he was, Marik answered, "I am Marik Ishtar; The Great No One of Kirigakure!"
The man responded with the name Anshoku Nekura, and greeted him warmly. Still suspicious of the man's purpose, Marik proceeded cautiously.
Anshoku presented the rod to Marik, to which he tried to break free of his bonds to grab it back. But the man held the rod just out of reach, and the bonds which held Marik were too strong. The man laughed and then complimented Marik on his bravery; both for trying to break the bonds while the head of the village was there and for spitting in the jailers face when he was at a major disadvantage.
With a hand gesture, Anshoku Nekura told the guard to release the bonds. As soon as Marik was free, he sprang up and reached for the rod. As he attempted to grab it, however, his hand began to burn. Marik pulled his hand away quickly, much to the displeasure of the head of the village. The mysterious man then grabbed Marik's forhead, and it burned just like his hand had.
When the burning ceased, a glowing golden eye resembling the eye on his rod was imprinted on Marik's forhead, which began to fade away. Anshoku said, "You are now a member of the Nekura clan. You will feel the Mark of the Demon when you use your new powers. Now become stronger, and return to us when you're ready to take responsibility for these powers I have bestowed upon you." Then Marik blacked out again.
Marik awoke in the Mist Village, surrounded by those lesser ninja of his home village who praised his powers. He rubbed his head, feeling nothing of the mark, and wondering if it was all true. He then went and had more adventures, accomplishing more feats, before returning to the Demon Country to see if it had all been a dream.
When he arrived, he found a different person sitting on the trone of Minas Morgul. The man welcomed him just as warmly as the other head, who's name Marik could no longer remember. "Welcome, Marik Ishtar, the Great No One of Kirigakure. My name is Kuroudo Akabane, the leader of the Nekura clan. We've been expecting you."
