Do take note some information is ported from my old account on Mangafox, username megas2face. So its rightfully mine.

There are endless amount of mythology references in Naruto Manga, and Kishimoto himself is very aware of his workings, here is a few:

The goddess of the sun and the god on light. A major deity in the Shinto religion. Amaterasu literally means "Illuminating in Heaven". Itachi's Mangekyou Sharingan is closely related to her, even in her portraits.

*notice the Kaleidoscope on the right side of the picture.

The god of the sea and raging storms, he is also considered the ruler of (The Land of the Dead). Susanoo is a warrior that possess the Totsuka Blade, Yata Mirror and the Yasanaki no Magatama.

Well known for being the slayer of Yamata no Orochi (8-branched serpent). Naruto goes reference to this with the Itachi vs Sasuke fight

Actual picture where he slays the Yamata no Orochi

The god of the moon, Naruto made a whole lot of reference to where Tsukuyomi is associated with the moon, such as Itachi's genjutsu and the Eye of Moon Plan.

*cant find a good picture of tsukuyomi*

The 2 god and goddess that is the parents of the Three Noble Children(Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu, and Susanoo)

How the 3 Noble Children was created is said is when Izanagi failed to save Izanami in Yomi and came back weeping and washed his face, Tsukuyomi from his right eye, Amaterasu from his left eye and Susanoo from his nose.

In Naruto Izanagi is used to change reality or put imagination into reality, for the price of your eyes light.

The entire Izanagi family is mostly referenced to Sharingan (Copy Wheel Eye)

Rinnegan

The Rinnegan is a Samsara Reference not Japanese. Rinnegan litrally means "6 Paths Eye". Samsara means "continuous flow" referring to life, death, animals, rebirth or reincarnation.

We have seen a real bunch of reference of these up to now. I will describe the 6 Paths to you first,

This is the Wheel of Life, showing different realms, particularly 6 Realms:

1. Naraka Path - A hellish realm or path, that deals with fear, terror, pain and all sorts of agonizing pain and sight.

2. Preta Path - a realm of hungry ghosts, a place of great craving and eternal starvation.

3. Animal Path - realm of animals and livestock. Not much to it really.

4. Asura Path - Realm of anger, jealousy and war, in this realm there is like demigods that always having war and fighting, some is good and some is real evil.

5.Human Path - a human realm, where good and evil lives, not much to say.

6.Deva Path - realm of heavenly beings, the deva holds godlike power, a very celestial place. The deva is also attached to the path of suffering(pain) which is a great reason to say why Pein or Nagato is so obsessed with speeches of pain.

Also the Rinnegan kinda looks like the Wheel of Life for bonus sake:D

If you didnt know the Sannin are a mythic element too. Its based on the ancient novel called "Jiraiya the Gallant". Sure you guys are very familiar with this name. The novel is about a man named Jiraiya who have Toad powers, fights off evil and longing to be with his crush, Tsunade the slug princess. As every hero have an villain, a man named Orochimaru a master of snakes, always gets in the way between Jiraiya and Tsunade's love.

Small facts:

Kishimoto has amazing connections with his manga and the myth, some clans like Hozuki, Aburame are actual clans.

*Did you know Kakashi's advanced Raikiri called Running Beast is actually a beast called Raiju? Pokemon also used this creature to a reverence to Raichu even.

*Neji's or the Hyuga clans style is based on a type of Baguazhang and maybe a bit of Qi Gong, Neji also means whirl or rotation because of his technique.

*And to go a bit off topic, Sun Wukong (later changed to Son Goku) is actually a monkey king from a novel called "Journey to the West". Crazy dont you think?

*Hanzo himself can also be a connection to Hattori Hanzo himself, Hattori Hanzo was killed by Fuma Kotaro, Hanzo from the Manga was killed by a path from the Fuma clan

And a really amazing discovery I made

Raikiri :scorps:

A well known Jutsu every basic fan should know, to begin with this you should know Raikiri is a concentrated version of Chidori, how it changed?

Well in mythology a samurai named Tachibana Dosetsu possesed a legendary sword named Chidori meaning A Thousand Birds (Also when Sasuke uses this you will hear birds or a eagle). So Tachibana as a young man sat under a tree while it was raining, a lightning bolt or Raiju (Thunder God) struck him, howsoever he used his Chidori to cut Raiju, thus his sword has become a Raikiri, meaning Lightning Cutter.

Chidori has levels according to myth. Chidori -> Raikiri -> Raiton: Raijū Hashiri no Jutsu ( Running Beast Technique )

Sasuke alternatively made his Chidori like a actual sword, also a reference to Tachibana himself.

Naruto Hands Seals Origins :D

The main requirement in the Narutoverse to do nearly everything is using seals.

So there origins? They are "Kuji In" seals, or "Nine Syllables". They are used by ninja's back then to meditate and to use chakra for a certain technique (nothing like summoning or walking on water, sometimes Bukujutsu". They are mostly used in Buddhasim and Taoism.

The Kuji In is also a reference to Akatsuki's Sealing Jutsu, and even there rings.

These are the meanings in Kuji-in, could connect to Akatsuki Members.

Rin: Meaning "to face", symbolizes strength over mind and body(Reject Pain) = Pain(Nagato)

Pyo/Hei/Hyo: Speaking of flow and direction of energy, also fire and explosion power = Deidera

Toh: Meaning peace or harmony with the world(Origami/Art) = Konan

Sha: Healing of the body and others(Close wounds and fix issues) = Itachi

Kai/Gai: All effort or sense emotions on wounds, also mysterious = Zetsu

Jin: Knowing intentions or thoughts of others, like a serpent in Myth = Orochimaru

Retsu: Speaking of Time and Space manipulation, also means to focus = Kisame/Tobi

Zai: To create existance or manipulate elements of the world = Kakazu

Zen: To be ahead, to be smart and wise =Sasori/Tobi

Im sure you seen in Ninja movies or games like Ninja Gaiden and Tekken characters using these.

Take note the seal "Zai" is used with the , used mostly with

Bijuu Names

I dont have much info on this but feel free to PM me to add some.

1. Shukaku - Easily notifiable as an Tanuki, an Tanuki was a very mischief and happy creature, could Shapeshift but more recognized as a prankster

2. Matatabi - This one is quite funny This Bijuu is an Bakeneko, a monster cat in Japanese Folkore, but where the name come from (lol) is really funny, here is a saying in Japanese:

(neko ni MATATABI, jorō ni koban, "Silver vine to a cat, a coin to a prostitute")

The prostitute is obviously Yugitto

3. Isobu - Not really known where this come from....

4. Son Goku - A reference to the legendary "Dragon Ball" and "Journey to the West" novel, The Jinchuuriki, Roshi can be a reference to Master Roshi, and also something fun, Goku had the 4 Star Dragon Ball, Son Goku is a 4 Tailed Beast

5. Kokuo Not really sure on this one but Kokuo was related the the word "King" or "A King comes on a horse"
Kokuo is also one of the national treasures, belonging to the Han Dynasty, like his Jinchuuriki's name is Han too.

6. Saiken - Not known.

7. Chomei - Related to a poet, maybe a poem on the Kabuto Bug? I'll do some research on

8. Gyuki -A demon Ox (Ushi Oni), a monster that has two big horns, also one of the symbols in the Year of the Dragon, or Ox.

9. Kurama- He is basicaly Kitsune and the 9th Chakra combined. He is Reiki associated Reiki means 'Spiritual Healing", was originated from Mt. Kurama from priests and they believe that the Reiki only works through the 9th Chakra (Nine Tails, or Kitsune) which color is red

Also a reference to the legendary manga YuYu Hakusho's Kurama, and a reference to Reiki vice versa
