I think he knew that Acknologia is going to make his move.He knew that Acknologia will do it and probably will come there to take care of matter himself. Just like he did in END's case.

This weeks chapter got me hella hyped for next week! Igneel and Natsu reunion and possible Igneel and Acnologia showdown! We haven't even seen E.N.D enter the fray yet and now we have these two heavy weights entering the picture Lol. This arc just got a hell of a lot more interesting.
