I completely agree, just from a story telling perspective, Kishi heavly built up that Sasuke could never go back and had no future. There are going to be consequences for Sasuke's actions, otherwise all of that would have been pointless.

I suspect that will play a big part in the rest of the story. Kishi put a lot of effort into making it clear that Sasuke doesn't have a future anymore. There will be consequences to what Sasuke has done, Kishi didn't do all of that for nothing.
