[Discussion] Obito's Mentality

All right this is an analysis of Obito's little speech:

1. Obito remarks about how Rin was an imposter because in his mind she survived and he calls Kakashi an imposter because he failed to keep his promise.

My analysis of this is that he is basically denying reality and saying that this reality isn't real and is nothing more than an illusion.

2. He says that its the world's fault that he ended up this way.

This comes off to me as meaning that he just blames the world for everything further showing that he is rejecting reality.

I would say that he believes that the word of Infinite Tsukuyomi is real while the real world is the illusion, basically the people of reality are all fake because things didn't go his way.

He is rejecting reality because reality isn't going his way and he will use the eternal genjutsu in order to make the world the way he wants it to be in his own mind and that will be the real world.

This explains his complete disregard for life as the people around him aren't real in his mind they are just imposters and illusions.


This chapter kind of makes Obito more of a childish brat throwing a tantrum because in his mind if reality doesn't go his way it isn't real.

What are your thoughts on my analysis and what is your opinion of his little speech?

Totally agree. It really diminishes his impact and effectiveness as a villain. It's the same reason I've found Sasuke so irritating throughout all of Shippuden. There's no motivation beyond "wah I'm angry."

At times he just seems emotionally out of control . At other times his emotion didnt affect him at all . Example he bumped into kakashi a few times . When yamato and kakashi was in naruto room to protect him . He told the story he wanted to tell , and never got emotional . so we have seen emotional obito and cool calm and collected obito . He wants to make his own reality .

He is talking about aligning his Subjective reality with the objective one, which doesn't exist per say, but is to be created. Rin was a loved one, and when someone goes through such a loss, they alter their philosophies. Rin became a catalyst to make his realize the Ninja's worlds ideals that do not seem to take the value of human life into account over Political agendas.

Why are your comments always so damn narrow-minded and bereft of reason and story elements?

But for one problem.


Obito isn't a child. He blames the world but unlike a child, who just whines and cries. He actually is doing something to change it.

The way I perceive it:

Obito probably got over Rin years ago. Obito is doing what he is doing because he hates the ninja system, he is not doing it because he is suffering. Rin's death opened Obito's eyes to the flaws of the ninja system, so in a way it can be said that her death was the indirect cause but not his exact motive.

I actually think Obito's goal is quite noble to be honest. Most people would just blame the people who were responsible for Rin's death and swear vengeance on them, but Obito has looked past that and is holding a grudge against the ninja system, not the people who were actually responsible for Rin's death.

The only difference between Obito and Naruto is that Naruto has faith in humanity when Obito doesn't. I mean, in all honesty how can anyone expect to accomplish peace without something like Eternal Tsukyomi? If it could be done then we would have done it by now in our world. Alliances dissolve over time, the 5 great nations coming together is only a temporary solution.

Yes, he is insane and I kinda understand it a bit.

When he was 12 he had very strong convictions and he already wanted to change the system (if that's what being a shinobi means, I'll crush that idea). We all know that when people have very strong convictions, they can sometimes become dangerous.

He then almost died but was looked after by an elderly Madara who was spouting his cynicism towards this world the whole time.

He then watched his best friend kill his other best friend and he then slaughtered a bunch of mist shinobi. That's probably when his strong convictions started getting influenced by Madara. He started becoming cynical too, towards humanity and the ninja system. And for a 12 or 13 year old to go through all this. That traumatizes a kid like that.

So I can see why he's a bit crazy.

Very few people have seen the realities of war, and how absolutely senseless and cruel it is. Why do you think so many soldiers come back nuts?

Anyone that went through something like that at age 12 would be insane. It makes perfect sense Obito's a nutcase. Can't wait til he kills Kakashi, gonna be epic.
