Yea I agree. Getting rid of Poison for some extra town cred specially when you keep in mind the abilities that Poison had is a silly move in the first phase itself. Toujo had options of RGK and Ryu who he had already mentioned as one of his scum reads so why kill you own overpowered teammate...
