Since we know that to activate MS one needs to be in extreme emotion. Kakashi and Obitio activated MS when they felt pain of losing someone very dear to them "Rin" And I find it quite strange that Madara activated Rinnegan just like that. (May be fear of death made him activated rinnegan xd)...
