Itachi failed (not debatable)

He did admitted it was a bad decision to kill his clan though since he said Sasuke could have make their parents change their decision

That's an IF and a big IF...

they very well knew that ninjas of the clan may died.. meaning fugaku knew he was putting sasuke in danger..

He seemed to understand what went down as he even told Itachi to take care of sasuke...

may have been a bad move but he did it to save his brother, rather than the anbu wiping the entire clan

The fact remain that he did admit there was another possibility to avoid a war but didn't take it into consideration back then, and thus making his decision bad in killing his clan when there was no need

OK so Itachi is my favourite character because he is so god damned excellent.
And all that he did he did out of good intentions. He was a good guy.

But boy did he fail miserably


Black on white this is what he did:

Killed off his clan

alienated his brother

stopped edo tensei so Madara could break free
(this is debatable: some poeple think that Madara had the means to break free all the time, not just when the jutsu was released)

I will not say much apart from the edo tensei.

Imo its ridiculous when people saying its Itachi's fault for madara breaking free. Fact is madara always could've broken free. Kabuto gave him freewill and he knew the seals already. When he was weaving his many seals for his katon variations he could surely have weaved the edo tensei seal before kabuto tries to bind him. He broke free because dedo tensei was released and wanted to stay. Blaming Itachi for edo madara is like blaming tobirama for edo tensei. Hiruzen for not killing orochimaru who perfected it or even rikudou sennin himself who gave birth to ninjutsu

I dont think you can break free from the contract unless the link is weak U_U

Well he confirmed it himself lol, what can you really say. The main reason he failed was because he was too nice. He should've slaughtered Sasuke along with everyone else; that would've eradicated a large chunk of what has been deemed as incredible fail (Sasuke wanting to destroy Konoha). But Itachi lacked hatred so...

Yea Itachi is considered as a Hero, how is that a fail. If it wasn't for Itachi the village would have been ****ed because Danzo was bluffing lol there's no way that Konoha would have been able to **** up the Uchiha clan lol. If it wasn't for Itachi countless more Shinobi would have died.
