Manipulated Sasuke for his own ends (still not completely sure what Obito has in store for him).
Although losing his fight against Minato, was able to infiltrate Konoha without detection, take control of the Kyuubi, and go somewhat toe-to-toe with him in a few short years. Basically going from fodder to Kage level in the span of about two-three years.

Madara persona wasn't hard to fool people with due to him having a mask and a sharingan, not to mention kamui making him seem invincible to others.

As I said in my 3rd sentence, Sasuke's life was already screwed up. Wasn't too hard to manipulate him.

I'll give you the Konoha invasion, but you can't give him much credit for the way he did it, since he took an infant hostage and kidnapped a woman who had just given birth. You made good points, but sadly they don't prove Obito as a genius.

A genius is someone who showed talent since the very beginning. Shikamaru, Itachi, Orochimaru, Neji and Minato have been called a genius, and I don't see Obito belonging in that category.

But this manga has shown a few times that being a genius is not everything. Naruto and Obito were considered to be failures, but what makes them extraordinary is that they become extremely determined once they gain a goal. The combination of hard work and the ability to learn and progress very easily is what makes them talented, and why they're able to catch up and surpass those who are called geniuses.

The big difference is that they both had their own advantage. Naruto has the chakra of a bijuu and is still a bit of a happy dumbass, while Obito had Madara as a sensei and abandoned his idiot personality for a more calculated one.
