I had a realization just now about Sasuke's new post-Orochimaru-resurrection personality.
Sound similiar to anything?
I'm not sure how likely it is, but there would be some nice symmetry if Sasuke could not let go of his hate but chose to believe in what Itachi believed just like Naruto did with Jiraiya's beliefs when confronting Nagato. The way Kishi writes it is easy to see he loves symmetry I mean just look at the Hokages and their students (Hiruzen Oro/Jiraiya/Tsunade, Minato Obito/Kakashi/Rin, Kakashi Naruto/Sasuke/Sakura).The way Sasuke's story was developing before we cut away from him I have a hard time believing he won't break his cycle of hate in some way, and perhaps this is that way.
When we were going through the Pain arc I thought that all the talk about hate was good but kind of preachy. But now looking back at it I really appreciate it, because it allows me to look at Sasuke as a deeper character. I think Nagato's backstory and obsession with pain really helps you understand Sasuke's issues.
