Overrated Anime

Now lets discuss Overrated Anime...Nowadays I don't know the reason Why they said an anime was an overrated why some body really enjoy it and why others hate it.. This discussion is open so you can give an example and explain why you consider it as an overrated... If someone here is being offended because you love this anime then you can defend it... Open discussion to all haters and defender.. but keep it clean ok ?

let me start:

IMO SAO is overrated,It has people bending over with their pants down for it yet it has nothing to be proud of. The art is average, the main character has personality problems, there is NO character development. Infact the only thing it has going for it is it's story which, to be honest isn't that special.

It's basically about the MC playing a bunch of video games and being the best player at every single damned one of them. And all the lolis drool over him.

let me start:

IMO SAO is overrated,It has people bending over with their pants down for it yet it has nothing to be proud of. The art is average, the main character has personality problems, there is NO character development. Infact the only thing it has going for it is it's story which, to be honest isn't that special.

It's basically about the MC playing a bunch of video games and being the best player at every single damned one of them. And all the lolis drool over him.

I personally enjoyed SAO but I would agree that it's overrated. Kirito, Asuna, and Suguha are some of the only people with any depth in the show and even then it's limited by the fact that one female lead is pretty much completely gone while the other is around.

Also, episode 14. Just, no. The rest wasn't that bad though.

I agree with this too. Admittedly I haven't seen the latest arc so I can't judge that, but from what I have read Hueco Mundo on (up to Fullbring arc) was pretty underwhelming.

DBZ a little

.....And this as well. DBZ isn't "bad" per say but it's pretty much all action no plot, and almost nobody in Z gets any character development, the little that does seems to be confined to Dragon Ball part 1.

As for me, I'd probably consider Naruto to be overrated. I'm not saying it's bad but considering the amount of filler it has, I'm not going to go around praising it. I'm sure it's obvious, but a lot of people's first actual anime was Naruto, including myself which everyone goes into it, hearing how great it and how it's about ninjas and whatever, but it just starts to deteriorate after that. It's more one of those opening anime things, something you watch before you start to delve into anime and manga, learning new genres etc. Then you just think it's crap and wonder why you ever showed such high praise for it. I agree it's good for someone trying to get into anime, but after that it's kinda meh.

SAO I kinda agree on. I remember when I first saw it, I didn't really like it all that much. It seemed too cliche for me, like it was something that had been done before. Then I watched it and it was kind of good, the only thing I didn't like was the fanbase which was pretty much fangasming over the entire thing. That basically ruined it for me. I dropped it after they moved from Sword Art Online to Alfheim.

Another personal one which I don't even think should be up here but I thought I should mention it anyway, Fairy Tail. I don't see what's so good about it, it's basically One Piece but with more fanservice for everyone.

Honestly I'd probably agree on Naruto. In elementary and middle school I obsessed over it and thought it was the best thing ever (it's a Shounen after all so that's to be expected) but I guess part of it is that as I got older it didn't feel AS awesome. Of course that's not the only issue (it'd be a pretty crappy argument to stand on alone), I feel that part 2 wasn't as good as part 1. I for one never watched the Shippuuden anime but mangawise part 2 didn't strike me as much, part 1 developed the cast in a more captivating way in my opinion and it seemed like the characters could actually have more room for potential, come part 2 a lot of the side cast kinda got shafted. There's more I could talk about but I'm too tired to think of anything else at the moment. It's good, but it is the typical Shounen after all and there's way more to anime than just that.

And yeah the SAO fanbase does take it too far with the idea of it being "best anime of 2012" and whatnot. Admittedly though the haters are just as bad, a huge number of people despise SAO and while some of their arguments are true they act like SAO does it in ways that other anime don't (when that's really not the case) and that's just as bad.

As for Fairy Tail, I personally thought it was really good. Definitely not One Piece good but I mean the characters are developed well and it's a pretty good alternative to One Piece in my opinion. I personally loved the Erza arc and even though sometimes the fights go Deus Ex Machina mode it's not really much worse than other Shounens out there.

Sword Art Online is really overrated , i mean on funnymama or facebook or alot of manga/anime site/forum its only SAO on some facebook page or forum people say its better/greater than One Piece and naruto , i only liked two or three episodes of the entire series , and the only reason i watched it was because the story was like Episode 99 and 100 of Gintama , and of course all this people talking about Kirito having the biggest harem in anime , every time i hear/see that i'm like

I think your reason for One Piece is insufficient. I may be wrong, and you really have a problem with the overall art, even though it's nearly damn perfect now, and the background is so beautifully drawn, it is a characteristic style. It is similar to Naruto, yet more round and extravagant. It is also pretty close to Full Metal Alchemist... And well Dragon Ball... And Deadman Wonderland... And fairy tail. Hum, would you mind specify your opinion a bit better, or are you basing it only on 3 chapters?

When an anime/manga has the #1 amount of sales, dwarfing the sales of any other anime/manga out there then it's definately not overrated xD

OT: I'll admit that the SAO anime is a tad overrated <_< the theme is just so awesome I can't help but overrate it myself aswell.

well good anime is overrated but overrated anime is not a good anime........,
you see most of SAO viewers/fans is either a junior high school(freshmen,sophomore,Senior) or high school freshman in other words Cherry boys and Drama Queen, its popular among that community, its actually not wrong but their fangasm is annoying......

i watched cause i heard it was very good, but its turn to be another BS survival game packed with cheesy romance, but i did watched till the end it worth it to laugh at the stupidity

they go around claiming that its the best anime in history and have the best romance out of all Shoujo anime/manga, some idiots even say its better than Naruto,Bleach and One Piece, also they spam every character popularity contest so Kirito can win it, he even beat Lelouch recently in some Popularity contest LMAO unbelievable they would go to such extent just for something like that.

that's why i said its different from the reality, the same thing goes with One Piece, they are different from the actual pirate, TBH you don't have to watched it cause i don't want to you to feel force to watch it, cause it will only give you a negative doctrine while watching and unable to enjoy the series.

As for the art style in One Piece, I can sort of see where they're coming from. I've always hated it when people judge anime based on it's art style. It's like, nothing's perfect. Hey let's not watch anything that's got a really weird art style but it's ****ing amazing anyway but we'll ignore it because of it's art style. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya gives me this impression, the same with K-On. I'm sure they're good with the former being so much better, but I feel like people will put it off because of it's art style.

But back to the original point, when you watch other pieces of anime which have probably the most beautiful art styles I've seen. Stuff like Senki Zesshou Symphogear (the beginning concert), Sakamichi no Apollon (i have a thing for their soft-cell shading), Soul Eater, One Piece looks pretty amateurish in comparison. Still, art is no reason to hate on something.

Speaking of art, I have to bring up K. Am I the only one who noticed how uhh... blue it was? xD

nah that was Samurai code. ninja did have something like that but its more like to protect their self/mission while Samurai did that to protect their Honor and their Lord
