But don't forget that when Sakumo was in his prime, the Sannins were between 20 and 30. So it's not a big deal to say he was stronger then them.

They were 33 when Sakumo died. He died when Kakashi was 8. Now Kakashi is 30, so 22years passed. Now Sannins are roughly 55. So they were 33(55-22). Also don't forget sannins are 2 generations before Kakashi. It means that Sannins were actually older than him. He was probably from Minato's generation or slightly older
