Still doesn't matter just like you said genjutsu is only effective at close range and kakashi is not getting anywhere near Gaara.
And @people talking about kamui, even if Gaara is caught in it he could easily control sand and attack kakashi with it, since kakashi is pretty much defenseless at that time, and force kakashi to stop kamui. Just like konan did to obito who is far more skilled at kamui than kakashi. So kamui is not a factor in this fight, get that in your heads.
Lol those are your examples of superior uses of genjutsu?!? Against shinobi who 1) haven't shown the slightest bit of intelligence, 2) wouldn't know be able to break genjutsu even if they were caught.
Kakashi having a 4.5 in genjutsu means nothing, at least not it's wing effective against another top Tie shinobi. Hence Orochimaru has a 5 in genjutsu. Also, he has had other opportunist to use it perfectly, such as; chasing Deidara, confronting Kabuto, etc. why didn't he use t than, being that would have been his best resort?!? Simply because he know it would have failed, because 1) Deidara's distance and Kabuto's intelligence. Garra possess both attributes in which would render using genjutsu useless. Also, who has plenty of counters, as mentioned and shown already, Garra uses replacement ninjutsu effortlessly, Kakashi would/could 1) use it on a clone 2) waste chakra he can't afford to lose.
Let's not forget the fact that Garra doesn't need to use eye contact directly, he could use his third eye from a distance and keep himself shielded the entire time.

Concerning his genjutsu, i never said that it will be a decisiv factor in the battle, but we can't deny the fact that it's still possible to happen. I said close range for sure, but the term "close" here depends on what is your definition of close range.
Close range for me is between 0-5M. Besides i'm not saying it's not possible to genjutsu someone in mid or long range(Sasuke did it to Deidara for example). I'm only saying Sharingan genjutsu is more suited, or if you want, easier to use it in close range and the reason for this is because at close range, it's easier to fix the opponent eye to eye. Gaara is the easiest to be put in a genjutsu?,he faced 2 sharingan weilders and was never caught,he faced 5 ems's at the same time and despite his fighting style,he wasnt caught,the only genjutsu that has hit gaara is mizukage's clam one,and gaara still got through it despite being inside the gen. So i dont know where you got the idea that gaara is the easiest to be trapped in a sharingan genjutsu when he has never been caught in one while others like zabuza have been caught.
