Itachi's Disease

What was Itachi's disease specifically? Was it the same as Kimimaro's? I have heard theories that it was actually Oro's poison, but I don't think so.

What do you think was the purpose of this? Was it to give a weakness to an otherwise indestructible Itachi? Or do you think it still has a part to play? Maybe Sasuke learns that someone gave Itachi the disease/poisons him and targets them?

It's never been mentioned what kind of disease Itachi had. Only that he took medicine for it to ensure he stayed alive until Sasuke would fight him.

Honestly it was the only for Kishi to kill off two characters that could have dominated nearly anyone in the Narutoverse. I also believe that this unkown disease was the cause of the death for Hashirama who was said to be unrivaled by anyone but Madara.

Either way Sasuke couldn't have won. Itachi had it all planned out. Itachi was to die at that moment no matter what

If it caused by excessive MS usage, sasuke might well exposed to it too, so that later people will says, if sasuke didnt have that disease, naruto wouldn't have won.

the sentence in red most likely. He was as ill as he could be, ready to drop dead + his eyesight was terrible.. yet he was toying with Sasuke as if he was a fodder...

If it's the same as Kimmimaro, I don't really know but it looks similar: coughing up blood, dying instantly, apperantly not cureable, etc..

wouldnt be surprised if oro poisoned itachi when he was 'defeated'. maybe inhaling oro's blood poisons you slowly... sasuke could have survived it simply because orochimaru gave him immunity to poison. and then kabuto used the same trick on kimimaro out of jealousy or wanting to be oro's vessel himself, he did offer his body up after kimimaro got sick. a bit farfetched perhaps, but it would make a nice twist with orochimaru back in action. and a good way to redeem the best villian in the series

I agree x-) Sasuke has more Stamina and better Enton release controle (amaterasu) .. But Itachi is just soooo much smarter, has way better genjutsu, legendary weapons, and alot more experience.. xD and i'm not a Sasuke hater either .. not even an itachi fanboy.. lol altho Itach is one of my favorite characters in the show

I think overall Itachi is better than Sasuke. Speed, intelligence, versatility, agility, ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu and he's had the MS for what like 10/11 years without going blind so overall he had better chakra control got being able to have his regular sharingan active at all times and uses MS while not going blind. And honestly I don't like Itachi either but its just my honesty opinion lol
