Re: The Plot Holes of One Piece
three ancient weapon are the powers of greek gods sky, sea, and underworld. Those weapons were under Rogers control. Making him the most powerful character as well being able to use sea kings too. Example shiki vs Roger
Easily EXPLAINED NO PLOT HOLES
That's by default impossible as the weapon Poseidon didn't even exist during Roger's time as Shirahoshi, who is Poseidon, wasn't born yet and only became really 'poseidon' when the Strawhats came to Fishman Island. If I recall correctly Roger was aware of the location of at least one of the the other two weapons (Shiki might have been referring to Poseidon, but in that case it would have been completely impossible for him to use it), but there is nothing that indicates he actually used such a weapon in battle.
No plus rep? my theory seemed pretty valid
It can hardly be called a theory, it was three sentences long and half of it were things we already knew and the other half was practically wrong.
Oda is plot hole free....those are the questions left unanswered!
One weapon is the ultimate warship called Pluton, one is Shirahosho who is a living weapon called Posieden, and the third is unnamed.
It has been named: Uranus.
Hate to say this, but you guys are wrong. While there may not be many plot holes/inconsistencies/retcons in the series, they are certainly there. Here are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head:
1. Devil fruit users becoming normal under water
2. Zoro cutting Hatchan's swords
3. (Not really a retcon) Crocodile forgetting about his right hand's technique in the final fight
4. Luffy being hurt by Foxy's punches
5. Blackbeard's attitude towards dreams
6. The hardness of Seastone
7. The size comparison between humans, giants, Oars, and Wadatsumi constantly changing
8. Zoro not knowing what samurai were
9. Luffy and Hancock not losing power in her bath.
10. Luffy not turning tiny in Impel Down
11. Moriah resurrecting dead soldiers at Marineford
12. Akainu's DF being unaffected by Marco's haki
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now
Most of those are wrong and the ones there is something wrong with can still not really be considered plotholes.
1) I don't really get what you mean by that, though I doubt whatever it is, it's a real plothole.
2) No plothole. For starters there is a large difference between iron and steel. Daz Bones body was definitely of a higher caliber than Hachi's swords, which were just your average standard swords. It's not mentioned from which kind of metal it was made, but I sincerely doubt it was something special as they're practically mass produced. On top of that swords of that type have been broken on countless of occasions. So even if they broke due to Zoro's swords, that doesn't mean he really "cut" them. When Zoro fought Daz Bones, he really cut him and when he fought Hyouzou he really cut his swords vertically in half.
3) Can't really be considered a plothole.
4) I don't remember the details of that arc as I didn't really like it, especially because it was extended in the anime, but I was under the impression they mentioned it as why he was able to hit Luffy. Even if not you can easily assume that Foxy's punches would have some effect due to his DF power. I mean just getting hit by a punch, then another one and then another isn't going to hurt Luffy as his body has time to adapt to the power of the punch. However when he gets hit by dozens of them with only slight differences in their moments of impact they could deal damage. No reason to see here a plothole, not even a small one.
5) Once again I don't really get what you mean, but even if there was something with his philosophy it can just be considered that BB himself is contradicting himself, which is perfectly possible and thus not necessarily a plothole.
6) Again it's not clear what you mean by that. I don't think there has been a moment that Seastone was shown to be weak. Don't know if they ever stated clearly it's really strong, but in the least it has been implied to be quite tough, though currently I don't really see where there would be a plothole.
7) That's just how Oda draws and it isn't just limited to the characters you just mentioned, but to pretty much all 'big' characters like Mora or Kuma. I even think he explained it once. It's just the way how Oda draws and tries to create certain impressions on the readers.
8) As said before translation is the issue here. Don't forget that translating kanji into English isn't just translating a word from one language into another. I've seen several times the same stuff being translated very differently by different scanlating groups so that their meaning changed.
9) Oda himself has brought this up and explained himself, even using specifically the example of Hancock and Luffy in the bath. Not a plothole.
10) You need to be more specific about which scene's you are talking about. So far he hasn't turned small after the timeskip and it seemed that before the timeskip the time he remained small after using Gear 3rd had diminished. When he saved Ace from the scaffold he was small, however when they landed on the ground again he was already big again, so he was only small for a few seconds. So if the time interval is so small, it might appear on some occasions he never changed.
11) Not a plothole. He had both corpses ands shadows at his disposal.
12) Not a plothole either. Then you are under the assumption haki is some all or nothing type of skill, while in fact there are a lot of degrees in. It's not because you know haki that you can start hitting logia's. BB said in ID that Luffy's haki had become stronger, still he couldn't hit logia types. Haki is something that grows with the user. Vista attacked Akainu on the same moment as Marco and Akainu clearly said it had effect on him. I mean normally Vista's sword should have melted not even leaving a slashing mark on Akainu (there were examples of other people's swords just burning away), but it's not that because they knew haki that they could attack logia bodies like they were normal physical bodies. Also it has never been explicitly said, I think you need to take into consideration the haki of the opponent.
So my final conclusion is that all of stuff you just said are definitely not plotholes. Then on several other points you are too vague and on the ones where there might be some issues with, I wonder you can even consider them plotholes when Oda himself addressed those issues. I mean Nami has been hitting Luffy all the time. It shouldn't have an effect on Luffy, still he starts bleeding and gets bumps on his head, but this is just for comical relief. Likewise Pandaman has been practically everything, from woman to man to marine to pirate to even a skeleton. OP is an incredibly complex and detailed manga and combine that with the way how oda writes the story, it's very difficult to start talking about plotholes. I'm not going to say there aren't any, but practically all the things that were listed can easily be interpreted in another way and can simply be accepted. Pretty useless to start talking about big words like "plothole" when it's about minor stuff like that. That feels like nitpicking. If you want plotholes, watch DBZ.
Either way this thread has derailed, mainly due to the incorrect usage of the word "plothole" by the creator of this thread, so I'm just going to edit the title. So real on topic I think everyone who read OP made the connection between the Void Century, the Will of D, OP and the ancient weapons. With extension that already involves Monkey D Dragon, who is a "D". What all of that implies, who knows. In 600 chapters Oda actually gave is almost zero to none info about all those matters. One of the reasons why I like OP so much as he succeeds in keeping you interested by giving just enough stuff on the right moments to peak your interest.
