Can anyone please tell me how Minato became Hokage, please!?

An Hokage is a leader of the leaf village, what I don't understand is how Minato became Hokage when he couldn't even train his three students properly, lets just review on each of his students:

Kakashi was arrogant and ignorant and only realised what a total d*** he had been when Obito was dying in front of him but that really didn't sink in that well because he killed Rin presumably because of his mission.
Obito Looked quite normal except for his mental obsession with Rin which lead him down a path "the only way I can save the world is by deluding everyone!".
Rin seemed like your everyday badboy chaser, didn't give two s**** about Obito she just loved Kakashi even though he completely ignored her.

Seriously If I was one of the elders or the 3rd (who ever appoints a new Hokage) I would laugh at him and strip him of his Jounin title. Someone like that who couldn't handle three kids wants to rule a village seems a bit like a joke tbh.

Also I see a pattern here Kakashi had just as bad students and he was going to be made Hokage, oh and Jiraiya was appointed for Hokage even though he trained someone who would destroy the Leaf.

Dude the same could be said for thethird hokage. He was their sensei not their father. Not his job to make them good people, only good ninja and I think he was doing an Ok job.

Minato was fighting whole waves of enemies in the ninja war that's why he was appointed hokage.
Lets not forget every teacher with a student with the will of fire always has a counter part with the curse of hatred and that's why we have oro obito madara sasuke and etc.

Minato was chosen as the Fourth Hokage because he had earned himself a good reputation within the village, and he was more than capable of defending Konoha from threat.

You can't blame Minato just because his students were 'bad'. It's the fault of the students themselves, since they're old enough to be responsible for it. As far as I know, a teacher can't control everything their students think or do. U_U
