I wish to clarify a popular misconception surrounding the Kekkei Genkai(KKG).
The idea/mechanism behind a KKG has not been sufficiently explained in the manga and that is what I believe to be the source of confusion.
I hope this makes sense to you all. It is like saying: all cats are tailed animals, BUT, not all tailed animals are cats. (If you are confused at this point, this thread is not for you).
2 characters support my claim:
i) Onoki: Onoki has 3 natures (Fire, Earth, Wind). According to the misconception, Onoki then, ought to be able to use Lava release (Fire + Earth) and Scorch release (Fire + Wind). But he cannot. Can the misconception explain this?
ii) Mei: Mei has 3 natures as well (Fire, Earth, Water). According to the misconception, Mei then, ought to be able to use Wood release (Earth + Water) as well. Evidently she cannot.
Now I believe many of you will disagree with what I say, considering the extent of this misconception's popular acceptance, but I have faith that the logical, reasonable few out there will understand where I am coming from.
That is all. Thank you for your time (and pardon me if the post is too long) :ice:
The idea/mechanism behind a KKG has not been sufficiently explained in the manga and that is what I believe to be the source of confusion.
This is what many of you think (ie: the misconception):
"Anyone with multiple natures (eg: Onoki, Mei) will have a KKG corresponding to those natures"
This is what I propose (crudely put):
"Anyone with a KKG will have multiple natures that constitute the said KKG, BUT not all shinobi with multiple natures will have KKG"
"Anyone with a KKG will have multiple natures that constitute the said KKG, BUT not all shinobi with multiple natures will have KKG"
I hope this makes sense to you all. It is like saying: all cats are tailed animals, BUT, not all tailed animals are cats. (If you are confused at this point, this thread is not for you).

CONCLUSION 1 (Simple Version)
: The KKG gene is separate from the 'multiple natures' gene; having a KKG means you will be able to use a KKG, but simply having multiple natures does not give you a KKG.CONCLUSION 2 (More radical; only for the open-minded/sophisticated)
: A Kekkei Genkai is not really an elemental nature at all. That is, advanced natures don't really exist in chakra form; they exist only in the instance when it is created (ie: used as a jutsu). A Kekkei Genkai really is the ability to fuse 2 or more chakra natures together, to form a new advanced element. This advanced element has no chakra form from the outset. Lastly, may i offer an analogy...
Consider a cake: When you bake a cake, is it enough to have flour, eggs and water (ie: basic elements)? Does the act of mixing them make a cake? No, of course not. To make a cake, you need, heat. This heat is what the KKG really is; a catalyst that fuses 2 or more basic elements together. The cake doesn't exist from the outset, but its ingredients (water, eggs, etc) do; the cake only exists when you make it (ie: do a jutsu).
Now I believe many of you will disagree with what I say, considering the extent of this misconception's popular acceptance, but I have faith that the logical, reasonable few out there will understand where I am coming from.
That is all. Thank you for your time (and pardon me if the post is too long) :ice:
