But seriously she was very much attached to him when she was younger. She was also probably constantly thinking of him for the past couple of years that they had been apart. She may also see that there is something more that is interfering with Sasuke being normal but overall it's because he loves him.

It sounds stupid, but love is something that you can't really control :| Hence the saying "love is blind"

There's no way to prove if there's truth behind his statement or not, I'm just going by what I read.

Though not particularly fazed about which fictional character ends up with who or any of that nonsense, i believe Sasuke and Sakura are the most likely relationship in the manga. In fact that was the very first hint of any sort of relationship that the manga has given us. Its cannon that apart from Mikoto, Sasuke's mom, the only other female that sasuke has shown some form of affection/consideration towards is sakura.

• Their first ever mission he protected her.
• Against haku/zabuza we was asking what kakashi is doing when sakura was screaming in fear
• The chunnin exam where she took care of both him and naruto and when he woke up and the cm took over, only she could subdue his rage
• Protected her from Gaara when she was about fall
• When he was leaving he did say thank you which is a big thing for somebody like sasuke and because he knew she would follow him/couldnt bare see him leave, he knocked her out xd. Nothing hard though

She has also should care towards him however that is very clear. Anyway Sasuke has always liked Sakura and i believe if Itachi didnt show up, he wouldve eventually shown his other side and subdue to his feelings. Even now though its hard for others to believe, i still think that sasuke still likes her. He is just confused

Yes, Naruto is like her when it comes to Sasuke, yet only Sakura is extremely hated for it. No one ever hates Naruto for it, when he is in the same boat as Sakura. I can guarantee at least 70% of people reading this are fans of Naruto(character) and if they can understand that a character they like is the same as the character they dislike then maybe they can begin to understand her. Then we can calm all the unnecessary hatred.

Hey now that's not necessarily true. Look at Orochimaru or the Akatsuki or the Espadas from Bleach, they're all teammates and majority of them don't even get along.
And it's not just about Sasuke protecting Sakura, he actually showed that he legitimately cared for Sakura.
