tsunade is massively inlove with Dan, what would have Jiraiya done if there was a second Dan?

Jiraiya-Sensei is greatly missed by the fans of Naruto/Shipppuden.

He should've got Tsunade before he died, at least a kiss before the Pain battle.

The series ain't the same. :(

No, they won't... They just fight to figure out who gets which of her halfs xD

On a more serious note, one of the running theme's in Naruto seems to be that nice guys finish last, and girls go wet for the douches... Which, for a change considering we're talking of orange-clothed ninja protagonists who go through a world of bloodshed without killing anyone, goes just as in real life.

We have Sakura and Naruto, Jiraya and Tsunade, Obito and Rin... Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if our current anti-villain, Madara, was actually a fairly nice guy who had the hots for Mito, though she wanted nothing to do with him and was all eyes for Hashirama, who was in fact a complete douchebag (in spite of the good guy rep), which in turn resulted in Madara, who was probably the most powerful ninja since god knows when, deciding to "fix" things in a way that resonated with his power level, that is, rewiring fvcking reality (lol, talk about heartbreak).

I wouldn't put it past him.

Anyways, I don't think Tsunade had any feelings for Jiraya... She probably only said that line about his tough face in order to see if he would rise from the grave... I'm actually wondering how come he didn't.

If anything, I think it's more likely that Sakura will die than marry beta-male Naruto... Which is just fine, really. I wouldn't want leftovers if I were Naruto.

i think this just goes to show how we may lose the things most important in our lives by being stubborn and pigheaded..like tsunade...i guess that's why kishi didn't bring jiraya back...to maybe give us a silent message that we should be careful or we might lose whats most important to us...:scorps:

Wow! Really good thread! Tsunade has a bigger fanbase than anyone realised. Lot's more to this lady than meets the eye... There's been some bold theory's about her being Minato's mother etc... but unless Kishi is going to have soap opera tell-all filler ep or two and tie up every conspiracy theory out there I think it'd be out there already.

I still (like to) think that Tsunade didn't confess to Jiraiya out of fear she might jinx it... I mean, everyone else she's loved died on her. She wouldn't want that happen again, neither for Jiraiya or for herself :y

It was only right that tsunade and jiraiya never got together. Do you not realize how Over Powered their child would be. His nickname would probally be the "Immortal Sage".lol

Well... I'd have liked that, though, lol.

ONE MORE thing I just remembered I've been thinking about...
WHY did Tsunade choose to stay forever young? Could it perhaps be because she actually liked Jiraiya's admiration, and was kinda teasing him all the time? I mean, what was her purpose of the eternal youth-thing?
I'm just wondering...

Also, remember in that flashback episode where they're titled Densetsu no Sannin by Hanzou? When the war ended, and Tsunade asked Jiraiya what he was going to do now, he answered he'd go out to find the Child of Prophecy. To this, she asks: "Why won't you settle down in the village?" with a SAD please-stay-here face!

I'm SURE she had feelings for him already back then!

Yup, at that time Dan and Nawaki were dead.
And it was obvious, the only reason Tsunade didn't responded his love was because she feared to lose him.
She even said "If I lose you too..."
And we know that in her early ages, Jiraiya was the one who was complimenting her all the time. :)

Quite cruel, but one of the ways that Kishi applies a "loser" brand on all the so-called losers, no matter how awesomely overpowered they are, is by displaying their luck (or lack thereof) with women.

Naruto might have gone from a fodder to a being who could wipe out the continent if he was in a bad mood, but still... Women still don't like him (except Hinata, who seems to like him for whatever). Jiraya was no slouch himself, and we all saw how that turned out.

Yup. Seems the ladies view those guys as losers no matter what.

I think that the relationship between the two transcended traditional romantic love. The attitude that Jiraiya had towards their relationship was full of acceptance and was not conditional. Oddly enough there was a filler episode where Jiraiya is doing "research" for his novels travels to Nadeshiko village (filler) and fights their leader to a standstill and she acknowledges that he is worthy to mate with. Jiraiya responds that he had already given his heart to another. He explained that she was rejecting love because of those that she had lost, but that he was going to watch over her and bear the burden of her future on his shoulders. When the the kunoichi leader said "even though you may not be rewarded for the effort?", Jiraiya simply laughed and said "As if I care about such a little thing" and that he was "going to make her happy and surround her with love anyway." I actually feel more sorry for Tsunade's character.

We see this cycle played out with several characters Naruto/Sakura, Jiraiya/Tsunade, Obito/Rin even Hinata/Naruto there are probably others we don't know about. I've wondered if Nagato may have had feelings for Konan and noticed her love for Yahiko.
