And i say i doubt it because the manga is getting close to the ending i don't see any new villains arising so that means less of a chance for him to be in action which corresponds to a less chance of him losing a fight

I only say the truth. Gai has never lost a fight and he can't lose with a power said to be beyond even those of kages. The best that could happen is a tie since after opening that gate, he dies

I think the only way he will lose, like Minato, is if he takes his own life through a technique. This means that he has to open the 8th gate. He will be insanely powerful, but will die afterwards. It would be the perfect way for Gai to die, as he will effectively surpass all human possibilities, being more powerful than his eternal rival kakashi.
