In the Netherlands we've got 'Don't buy shiznit day', because all you're doing is giving money to the consumers anyway, they're still gaining profit. And Thanksgiving? Say what? I believe it goes back to wall street where they have a series of numbers on the stock exchange. Negative numbers are symbolized as red (i.e. "I'm in the red" means "I'm too far in debt so my net worth is negative"), while positive numbers are just shown as black. Hence, you save more money on "Black Friday"

Close. Black Friday is the day where companies make money instead of lose it. I worked for a Sporting Goods company as the manager. November and December are the only two months where the company MADE money instead of lost it, Starting on black friday.

Black Friday is kinda weird. People literally get KILLED where I'm from, just to get Christmas Presents early.

Wal Mart Had dvds for $0.98 and Blu Rays for $1.98. 32" TV for $150 and other ridiculous prices. And people literally get trampled to get to them...
