Itachi:
Batman:
Both are extremely skilled in combat and have intellect and perception FAR beyond the norm.
Both born into enormous privilege, they had the chance to learn the combat arts and whatever else they wanted from even an extremely young age, and faced no lack of material goods. They had the opportunity for making things better in their home village/city fairly easily, yet chose a different path.
Both instead chose an extremely taxing lifestyle for both their bodies, minds and ethics, but for all their efforts only made things worse.
Think about it. Bruce Wayne is one of the richest men on the PLANET. How can he, if he makes wise choices with his money, POSSIBLY fail at making things better for Gotham?
Itachi was the true heir of the Uchiha. Could he not have chosen to eliminate the revolt at the top, and either assassinate or challenge his father to a duel and afterwards assume the command of his clan? Any dissenting voices would be met with FORCE, until internal unrest died down. The Uchiha would quickly realize that having Itachi as a head means the Hokage's goodwill, and the root causes of the not-quite-rebellion would be completely gone.
Instead, Bruce dressed up as a bat and fought crime. He was succesful at defeating whatever monstrous threats plagued Gotham, but his villains gain experience and cunning in fooling one of the smartest men on the planet every time they face him. If he did not CAUSE their rise to the forefront of crime, he at least helped their development. Batman will not live for ever. He took a city full of corruption, small-time gangs and mobsters, and left it a city FULL of ruthlessly competent super-criminals who murder children without hesitation. And who else but Batman can stop them now?
Itachi took a possible revolt made up of high Chuunin-level to roughly mid Jounin-level shinobi, and stopped them from initating a revolt with possibly SEVERE effects on Konoha's military strength, and as this is AFTER the Third Secret War AND the Kyuubi Attack, so Konoha can scarcely afford to lose any more troops.
How did he stop this? Allying with an EXTREMELY dangerous man and taking out a hefty chunk of Konoha's military power himself.
In the process he DIRECTLY causing the development of a high Kage-level shinobi with a tendency to spam highly destructive technique to decide that NO KONOHAN MAN, WOMAN OR CHILD DESERVED TO LIVE.
How have their decisions to live harsh, perenially self-sacrificing lives made things anything but WORSE?
For EVERYONE?
EDIT:
I think this MAY make some people slightly unhappy.
