trueU_U samurais believe it is an extension of ones selfU_UYosh, pretty good reply. You got the basic gist of what I was looking for and then some.
Many people have their own definitions as to what it is, but a simple universal truth remains; Kenjutsu is the art of the Sword. Swordsman often believe that if you do not respect or fear the sword, than you are not fit to wield one. Many people see it as nothing more than a tool of war, but to a samurai, the sword is a means of protection more than anything else.
Questions? Comments?
Alright, so, do you know what the difference is between a One-Handed and Two-Handed Slash? Besides the obvious of course.trueU_U samurais believe it is an extension of ones selfU_U
I don't have any questions:shrug:
well I think a two handed slash has more cutting power, since the effort is kinda doubled, while one handed slash doesn'tAlright, so, do you know what the difference is between a One-Handed and Two-Handed Slash? Besides the obvious of course.
Well, yeah. That's definitely part of it.well I think a two handed slash has more cutting power, since the effort is kinda doubled, while one handed slash doesn't![]()
Two handed: more power, faster swing, less freedom of movement, less flexibility in overall movement, more controlWell, yeah. That's definitely part of it.
Anything else?
Close but no cigar. Flexibility isn't the right word. Why would something involving a swing of your arms inhibit the movement of your entire body? And no, you don't have less 'control' per say when you do a One-Handed Slash as opposed to a Two-Handed. One more try? =DDTwo handed: more power, faster swing, less freedom of movement, less flexibility in overall movement, more control
One: handed: less power, less control of swing (I think?), more flexibility of movement of sword, and more freedom of movement generally
Sorryxd I can't think of anythingClose but no cigar. Flexibility isn't the right word. Why would something involving a swing of your arms inhibit the movement of your entire body? Get some rest, like you told me a few days ago >:3Sorryxd I can't think of anythingmaybe its because I'm feeling sleepy it 6am hereO_O I suck at this>_<
Lol, I figured."maneuverability" thats the word I was looking forxd I don't have any questions yet
aiiLol, I figured.
Now that we've covered the differences, I'd like for you to perform a One-Handed Horizontal Slash on this training dummy.
*Sets up the training dummy, prior to handing you a Bokken.*
Try it to the best of your ability - Horizontal moving across the x=axis, or like this (____) parallel to the ground.
Yeah, that's right.aii
*I put my left leg forward as I unsheathe my sword with my right hand(sword is at left sidexd), then I deliver a horizontal slash from left to right, parallel to the ground to the dummy, slicing it at the stomach*
did I get it?
Don't know if I said this before but, make sure to state where exactly your hitting itOkayxd
*I raise my sword up with my right hand, then I swiftly slice downward, delivering a vertical slash that slices the dummy from up to bottom*
messed up dummy<_<
I'm aware of it, sorry I forgotDon't know if I said this before but, make sure to state where exactly your hitting it
Little details are important in Tai/Kenjutsu fights. Now I'd like for you to describe to me what a stab is to the best of your ability.
Well, yes, but moreover, no ~I'm aware of it, sorry I forgotI'll try to remember next timexd
A stab is the thrusting of a knife/dagger/sword into a person with a considerable applied force intending to kill/inflict serious damage to the victim
