Hello, it's me, Wang. I'd like to discuss my top 10 favorite movies ever. For me the easiest way to determine if a movie qualifies as one of my favorites is if I'd watch it over & over again. If any of the movies below came on TV, I'd drop what I was doing and glue myself to the screen. I wish I could show clips for all my picks, but apparently I'm limited to 1 video per thread, but whatevs. Ok, here we go:
1. Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars Episode V) - Star Wars is so sacred to me, this is my favorite movie ever. Luke trains with Yoda, Vader tries to turn Luke to the Dark Side, it's classic & I loves it.
2. 300 - Based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, it's the retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae, directed by Zack Snyder. I thought that this was such an awesome story, I had a geek boner for the entire film, so epic.
3. Big Lebowski - I'm shifting gears & going w/ a comedy. This is a brilliant & hilarious film by the Coen Brothers. "The Dude" is mistaken for a millionaire, a guy pisses on his rug, & then they go bowling. Countless funny movie quotes come from this film. I'm gonna use my one video, so here's a clip:
4. Braveheart - The true story (maybe a little embellished) of William Wallace, he unites the Scots against the oppressive English. Directed & starring Mel Gibson, before he was a douche. It's a great story with historical significance, I'm pretty sure everyone has seen it.
5. Return of the Jedi (Star Wars Episode VI) - Han Solo gets rescued from Jabba, Luke becomes a Jedi, & balance is brought to the force...I loves it so much.
6. A Clockwork Orange - Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of the Anthony Burgess dystopian novel (one on my favorite books, btw). Little Alex causes trouble, talks kinda funny, causes more trouble, & then is rehabilitated. This film is a classic work of art.
7. Goodfellas - A Martin Scorsese film, the true crime story of Henry Hill. This is a classic gangster film, it's a must see if you haven't yet. Gangsta movies is cool & dis one is da coolist.
8. Gladiator - A Roman general is betrayed & his family murdered, he becomes a gladiator & seeks revenge. Directed by Ridley Scott. Such a epic story, Russel Crowe is brilliant.
9. Pulp Fiction - The easiest way to explain this film is to cut & paste: The lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. Quentin Tarantino is a genius. "Say what again, motherfer." -Jules
10. Inception - Number 10 is a difficult choice because this is where I have to admit to myself that I'm excluding several movies that I love, oh wells. Directed by Christopher Nolan, it's a story about people using dreams to manipulate others. Everyone has seen this movie so there's no point describing it further, I guess this one is the most recently made of my pics.
Let me know what you think, & tell me what your favs are, thanks for reading!
