I happen to have time now, and at least one or two hours per day into training and updating my threads. I'll admit that I sometimes I get a bit lazy, but I do my best NOT to copy paste or skip any jutsu. I do in, fact, spend quite some time replying to each of my threads and you will find that no single training thread has been done in the same manner. However, you are correct in saying that I feel somewhat overloaded. I have personal issues with self-conscience, and I am also a huge workaholic, so I would often times get to a point where I will begin to have headaches out of exhaustion, yet continue to push myself. The problem that occurs is people already complain about how long training sessions are. To add in what you want, factoring in RL issues, you are essentially adding in fun but doubling if not tripling the time it takes to actually finish a rank. Aki has 50 students. I'm a Sempai and the max regular student's I've had is 7. And an Ice Shishou I dont allow myself to have more than 5 at a time, which is the max that I've ever had. So the fact that he has so many students and trying to incorporate this plan into training makes processing overload.
But in no way am I complaining, I am just saying that if most senseis did their job, there would not be so many students that are scrambling to get training done that had begun MONTHS ago. I enjoy training people, I just feel terrible when people come up to me that have been looking for proper and active training for months.
Here I think is the main problem, as I stated earlier. Whenever someone becomes a sensei or a mod, they get that feeling of "oh my god, I'm a sensei/mod!" and tend to work really hard for perhaps a month or even two. But the thing is, we are humans. We do not have a god complex and we get bored easily, and especially because training/checking customs/bios get rather repetitive, they may eventually become somewhat of a burden to the senseis and mods.Unless there is an increase in activity with all sensei (Meaning inactive ones becoming active or People being made sensei that are active) to take the stress from some others then I dont foresee this happening. And those are just sensei that train. You have Med Sensei and sensei that do battle tests (Shit we only have Nagato and Dante doing it right now with help from Scorps).
I think our main priority right now should be stability within the system.
Nexus - Only RP Admin...he needs help.
Caliburn - Only RP Global Mod...he needs help
10 RP Mods - thank goodness....but 5 are still adjusting
Medical Sensei - I only know of Nagato. Maybe Lili and Passion.....Nexus is in charge of this as well.
Battle Testers - Nagato, Dante, Scorps.
Regular Sensei/Shishou/Sempai - I'm unsure of the exact amount but more still would help. But it requires people being able to actually PERFORM these positions let alone WANT to do it. Some people do. Some people dont. But you cant really force them to. People have to be willing to help As well as CAPABLE of helping. Some require official positions. Others dont.
While I understand that appointing new mods all the time is definitely not the greatest idea (we all know of a certain very irresponsible mod in the past), there should be some kind of system implemented in order to encourage continuous responsibility.
This is especially important in terms of senseis. Every few months or so, inactive senseis should be kicked and new senseis should be invited in after proving themselves worthy. This should be done with precise and accurate decision (including new and enforced rules, as one of Nexus' rules for applying to become a sensei is never deny anyone training and we all know how that has worked as of recently) so that new and motivated people can come in and take up training.
People who CAN'T be a sensei or a mod anymore due to real life issues or lack of motivation, needs to seriously step up and say they can't do their duties anymore. I know it's nice being a sensei or a mod, and you definitely feel special, but it's no use just to have a colored name without taking up the responsibilities of that very name or contributing anything to the site
While I understand that the sensei status is extremely cherished and looked up on, it is definitely NOT a sign of achieving a celebrity level, and NO ONE has the right to ignore anyone or believe that they are on a completely different social level. I don't mean any offense, but keep in mind that this is the Internet, not an active business or a hierarchy of any company. None of us benefit in real life out of RPing on here.
I personally only came back recently, and I have no plans to leave NB anymore, but to actively help it grow by contributing as much as I can, but it feels that things have seriously died down. It takes forever to get a response from mods, and there are many people waiting for Bio Tests.
My deep apologies. I felt that all these thoughts needed to be released somewhere so I hope no one took any offense from my sincere musings.
Now that I have more time, I want to finish emphasizing on the RP aspect of what Blizzard was speaking of. He came up with a great idea, in fact, one that incorporates the idea of fun, which is, by the way, what RP is all about.
He wanted to have staff take up NPCs, thus, disregarding arguments, which I completely understand. The only reason why people argue, however, is because they simply want to win (for reputation, or a prize, I don't care, it just somehow benefits). We need to stop making this priority.
There can be small events every other week where parts of the Naruto manga can be re-acted, choosing actors to play those very roles.
For example, let's talk of the time where Naruto went to find Sasuke in the beginning of Naruto Shippuden.
People can be assigned various roles to act out such as:
- Naruto.
- Sakura.
- Sai.
- Yamato.
- Orochimaru.
- Kabuto.
- Sasuke.
- Allows new RPers to get a sense of how to RP. They can follow the canon storyline if they do not know how to make their own story yet.
- Allows people to experience bios they have not yet experienced before, and rules and regulations can be set so they do not abuse the bio if it is actually OP.
- Small rewards can be given out for this, and this is also a great way to keep the Naruto manga active.
AND if the event occurs without any type of argument (issues with moves can be settled very gentlemenly through polite VMs or MSN), then at the end, what we get out of it is:
- The enjoyment. If you've come to RP and simply throw out meaningless battles where you can OHKO, get out.
- Perhaps a small medal or reward as an encouragement.
- A custom jutsu slot.
- More ideas can be implemented, but the importance is to have fun.
