Akira live action movie?

There have been rumours for a while now of a live action akira movie thats been in the works and that leonardo decaprio was involved somehow(i think with being a producer aka investor) and that the guy who played tommy from 3rd rock from the sun was going to be in it as a main character....Just thought i'd ask what you guys think as akira is widely known as the best anime film to grace the screens and has a big cult following....

Hmm.... I loved that movie it could be good or bad they did the same thing with speed racer and it was amazing so it depends how they make the movie.

It could be ok but I hear they're already making big changes like setting the movie in America and things like that. I don't see the point though. Why not just watch the animation.

i've heard they are remaking it (still animated or 3-D) and should be out in the fall. But live action would be kick ass!
