Naruto - never felt the love of his parents, the village hated him for years..... but.... now he is a hero!
Sasuke- watched as his entire clan was killed by his brother, unlike naruto, he had parents, loved them, and lost them, causing more pain.
Itachi - He did live trough the horrors of war, but wanted to be like a hero. He was forced to kill his clan to save the leaf village, saskue was the only expection. He had a hard life, no doubt about it, but I don't think he takes the cake on this one.
Nagato - konoha ninja killed his parents by mistake thinking they were enemy ninja, that was a lot of pain, so he awaked his rinnegan after that, and killed them. He had to travel alone with a dog named chibi. He almost starved to death, but konan saved him, and met yahiko too. The three of them had to steal food in order to surive. His dog died in a cross over battle in hanzo's fight with some konoha ninja. Got trained by jiraiya and became a better ninja. Still had to go trough the horrers of war, and watch his freind die, yahiko, then turned evil as you know. Defently he is the definition of pain, and had the worst of it.
Kabuto - his life wasn't bad or anything.... just turned evil at a point.
Madara- His past is kind of unkown other than the fact about his brother, and he was the leader of the uchiha clan, and that he fought Hashirama, etc.
Gaara - he got told straight up that his parents din't love him. Led to his life people treating him like a monster.... so he had that evil personatly for a while until naruto saved him from it.
Obito - dude shouln't be even considered in this catagory of pain. The dude had a good life up to the point were he got smashed by the bolder. Only "pain" that he experinced is watching rin die..... and thats it for now....
Kakashi - he wanted to live up to his fathers legacy so it woun't be disgraced, which caused Kakashi to lead his life strictly by the ninja code. He had an ok life, he just put a lot of pressure on himself, thats all. Obito helped kakashi change his ways. Sure he killed rin, but the reason is still a bit unclear, something about those jonin/anbu level mist ninja wanting her...

Overall, it goes to nagato

I'd include Sakura... she still carries Sasuke's flame after all these chapters...
