Kakashi DID know he had MS

Anyhow, on topic:

I think Kakashi would have noticed the sudden jump in chakra strain from awakening the MS which caused him to pass out.

So he either KNEW he had it or at least knew that SOMETHING had happened.

From that point on we don't know what he did about it. For all we know he could have attempted to work on it and train for it. Most likely he decided that it was too much of a risk given his chakra levels (especially as at his age in the latest manga).

Then, as you said, after the Itachi incident, he decided to work on it even more (during the timeskip) so that he was able to use it SPARINGLY. However, since then, as evidenced in the Obito fight, he has gotten better at it.

So I agree with you - I think he knew he had it - maybe not right at that second, but most likely soon after when he investigated the cause for the sudden chakra strain. (Kakashi is not an idiot xd)

That said, it IS still an assumption since it hasn't been shown outright in the manga, but logically it makes sense considering what we HAVE seen. So + rep for you efforts!

Side topic: Sasuke -> He awoke the 1-tomoe vs Itachi in the flashback. He awoke the 2-tomoe in his right eye in his fight vs Haku.

So if Kakashi runs out of chakra for MS, it's not going to deactivate itself... he'll wake up and it's still activated even though he ran out of chakra.... or will keep draining chakra (even tough he's out) while he's sleeping until he wakes up and goes... hmmf my chakra is draining MS deactivate.

I also stated my belief that Kakashi didn't know about MS @ all until he saw Itachi use it.

Once he saw Itachi use it and knew it by name, he looked into it.

ok i agree with what your saying here and its very possible but thats not the point here sure he might have dug some intel about the MS but the point ive been trying to put out here since yesterday with mischiefmaker is how would he suddenly stumble upon his MS decades later out of no were with out ever knocking how he obtained it. you need to activate it at will right how would kakashi activate it at will if he didnt know he had it in the first place that just mind boggles me

actually it originally activates out of emotional pain.....and as i explained kakashi later could have experienced something that pushed it out once again such as remebering obito death or something else tramatic and noticeing the massive drain on his chakra figured out what had happened

To me, Kakashi learning about the MS would also imply learning about how it was obtained.

From that he could possibly trigger his memory or simply realize, hey I lost my closest friends (mainly Rin) after I had a sharingan.

We also know that MS is activated.

As in, Itachi would have his normal shar active and when it was show time, he would show his MS.

This implies there has to be some sort of activation of the MS.

So If Kakashi discovered those 2 pieces, he probly tried the activation of the MS and realized because of the loss of Rin and what he learned, he was now able to use the MS.

But, my usual disclaimer - this is all speculation from me lol - it's just what I feel to be correct, although I know it's not proven!
