Orochimaru and Kabuto knows something we don't, Kabuto even went as far as saying Orochimaru/Himself is closer to the Rikudou Sennin then anyone else, despite Kabuto even being aware of Madara's existence(Since he revived him)

Dont forget he lost against Itachi with his full power and he even ambushed him. Itachi easily cut his arm and made him running away from Akatsuki.

Losing Mokuton isnt a great disadvantage to Madara i guess..
