You underestimate Gaara's defense, keep in mind that at the Kage summit Gaara was able to protect himself against Amaterasu's flames. One of the problems that I see Gaara having is definitely Amaterasu though, he'd have to somehow be able to keep most of his body out of LOS.

First off, with Shukaku he can counter Sasuke's Tsukiyomi and genjutsu, especially with his tsukiyomi being as weak as it is.

1. He doesn't have Shukaku any more.

Secondly, his perfect defense can block Amaterasu and Susano'o arrows, as well as all the fire jutsu Sasuke uses. Amaterasu burns slowly and so Gaara has time to get away before it hits him.

2. Sasuke had beaten him in speed before and he is way faster now,so he can get instantly him and boom[Amatarasu and finish],for arrow thing he won't even need it bro.

Lastly Gaara's nature type is wind, while Sasuke's is lightning, and wind>lightning.

3. He has fire type too and combining it with 2 statement tactic gaara is doom again.

i have to agree with number two, gaaras sand was really fast when he fought lee, and we can assume he got better with it as time went on. so its safe to assume its faster than when he fought lee. thats a tough defense to cut through

i love how garaa has apparently not advanced at all since the chunin exams 1. he freaked when sasuke hit him because he had never seen his own blood. 2. he has already established "with shukaku" 3. sasuke's susanoo arrows take time to ready, not much but some, otherwise he would just raddle them off like machine gun rounds. 4.garaa has a near infinite ammount of sand susanoo is weak from below and could just as easily be crushed from all sides. 5. as for the glass thing i have points within points about that A. sand has a high melting point as it is a network solid B. lightning would only transmit heat to a small area turning the top layer to glass with little penetration to the sand beneath, which there is a lot of. C. sasuke cant just spam Kirin as it takes a ton of chakra and needs clouds in a desert like environment gara's sand sucks most of the moisture out of the air (thats why deaserts are dry)

i think this thread was thought out pretty well in general i wouldnt say garaa is better than sasuke but in a 1v1 fight i think its just a bad match up (genjutsu wise even tho he wasnt a perfect jinchuriki i highly doubt shukaku would just let his host die)

The hell out of here. Gaara is awesome and i think out does all kage except Onoki. I can't even get people to admit he can beat tsunade and you want sasuke. Sorry but sasuke has got this. Sasuke genjutsu is pretty powerful. Plus he has fire release and susanoo is not something gaara is capable of defeating even in an uncomplete form. My opinion is sasuke gets through gara's defense because he has so many powerful ninjutsu, before gaara gets through his.
