I've just been thinking and it still baffles me that Obito, Minato's weakest student was the one who eventually lead him to his demise. But aside from the other factors at play in his death, how do you consider the actual fight and how it went down?

Obito had prep time, a plan, the element of surprise, and the element of no knowledge for the enemy, along with other advantages, do you think he was fodderized by Minato who was able to best him in a short amount of time? How do you think it would have went down if Obito would have stayed and fought?

I don't think Obito was fodderized, but I've heard this since he was called Tobi, how do you think he faired against his former sensei?

He got fodderized pretty bad yeah. His whole plan did actually. Its amazing he survived a rasengan and being stabbed with a kunai.

If Obito stayed? Well...Minato did a good job at smacking him to the ground, making him lose an arm and then release the Fox from his control in a matter of seconds so...

His chances wouldn't have been too good, I feel.

And now people will call me a Minato fanboy.

Fodderise is basically 1 shotting from the start of the fight. Like what jiraiya did to konan or what itachi did to oro.
Obito vs minato was longer than that. Obito forced minato to use the second stage of hiraishin because the original stage, teleporting to a stationary object wasnt enough. He even claimed that the person who strikes faster wins

Yea I know, I'm just talking about the fight, and wasn't his main goal to obtain the kyuubi? what did he manage to achieve since he didn't do that?

if tobi/obito stayed and fought i reckon he would of got his butt handed to him. Minato had his seal tattoo on him so could just keep getting at him. saying that leads me to think why didn't Minato go after him if he could teleport to him at any given time and kill him then go back to save the village.

Ok, so would you say he embarrassed Tobi/Obito or made him look bad? I didn't think that fodderizing meant a one shotter, I usually just thought it means making the other guy look like an amateur, which is arguable considering Obito's age.

It's true Minato died because of obito taking the 9 tails out of kushina! If any other ninja was able to do that then it would have lead to the same position, due minato sacrificing himself to give kushina more time with naruto.

Obito got owned big time, If you take in to consideration that obito a former student of Minato's that had witnessed his abilities and still got owned by him. Minato didn't know anything about tobi, he was quick to asses the situation going on what he has seen and come up with a counter attack.

Obito only walked away from that fight because ....

1. Being plot no jutsu of course.
2. Being part zetsu allowed him to take the rasengan and work it off, You can see that Minato's Basic rasengan was considerably larger than Naruto's. If you look back to the time when Naruto hit kabuto with the rasengan during the Sannin Showdown, you can see that the damaged done to kabuto's body was so great that he couldn't heal himself.

Overall, Minato did what was best for the village and as hokage, giving the circumstances! He was able to destroy obito and withheld his plans for 16 years ...

Minato died, Obito didn't. Obito's controlled the kyuubi then released him in Konoha which caused Minato's death. Although ultimately Minato is going to kill Obito since he is the one who put the Kyuubi inside Naruto.
