Well for one, immortality. In addition to being immortal, he also made him beyond his prime, which would make him alot more stronger then he was really said to be. Don't get me wrong, Madara is strong, I just believe that Kabuto made him more stronger then what he would really be, and that's why people can't really take in the fact that Hashi beat him. He didn't have rinnegan at the time, nor unlimited chakra, nor was he immortal, so that's a big upgrade.

True he indeed did not have the Rinnengan but besides that, the immortality & unlimited chakra are just what comes with edo tensei. That's why Madara had to put Kabuto in his place.

I don't think that the kyuubi was much of a big factor, maybe just a distraction or something because hashirama controlled multiple of them and then he just distributed them to other villages like giving away candy. Also Yamato could suppress naruto when he goes to kyuubi chakra cloak mode without much difficulty and he only has a small fraction of hashi's power, so we could sort of guess that hashi's wood style is like a bijuus kryptonite. Lastly Hashi also had help from his wife and madar and hashirama caught many times before so if hassirama's and madras power really differed that much madara would've probably already been dead.

Dude no one is saying that he wasn't strong and yamato with only a small fraction of has his power could suppress the kyuubi without much difficulty, the same one that oro couldn't even pierce so i'm pretty sure that the kyuubi wouldn't be much of a problem for full power hashi. And like i said before if the kyuubi was such a big problem then Madara wouldn't have been able to go toe to toe without using it, which he did considering that they caught before and madara didn't end up dead.
