Yeah, and neither did i at first, im assuming your talking about the shield and field jutsu. One shoots out static energy as a field like mass shaped like the user. Imagine static energy as clone of you that you can propel forward to hit your opponent, and with the force of the attack, send them stumbling backwards.

And the shield is the exact same thing but it can only remain stationary infront of the user.
