if that is so, then itachi's weakness is genjutsu aswell since we all saw he was affected by tayuya's genjutsu and he can't break it himself, he still asked for sasuke's help.

and itachi is not the strongest. he's not even in the level of hashirama and madara. he's chakra reserve is poor which is a big issue since part 1.

If kishi wanted itachi to be stronger then jiraiya, pain etc. he wouldn't have done what he did in the manga. It's his manga, so if he hints at jiraiya above itachi you should believe him. Why? Concerning Obito, its basically a 4 round fight.

First you have to deal with 6 Edo Bijuus who have shared vision and can predict your movements. Then you have to deal with their tailed beast forms. Then you have to fight a Gedo Mazo. After that, you have to deal with a 100% Obito with Rinnegan, Izanagi and his S/T technique which Itachi has no counter to.

Given Itachi's chakra levels, he probably won't get past the 6 Edo Bijuus.

Itachi was a Kage class ninja and top 3 of all time in Naruto only to Naruto and Sasuke. He failed at everything he did but his final lesson learned put him over and he saved the whole world.
