I believe that Naruto transformed his clone into a rasengan (smaller to transport than a full body and is a good strategy to fool Tobi), that's why he asked Bee to hide him while he prepared, and that's the one they teleported, since they figured out that Tobi would have anticipated them to strike with a rasengan-Kamui combo. And the rest is history in that chapter.

There's a difference between the transformation technique, and controlling the size of your body. The fact that they were able to come up with an idea smart enough to hit Tobi that quickly and you're criticizing it is kinda funny because I'm pretty sure that you're not Kishimoto and no one cares what "you would've done".
