There's a difference between the transformation technique, and controlling the size of your body. The fact that they were able to come up with an idea smart enough to hit Tobi that quickly and you're criticizing it is kinda funny because I'm pretty sure that you're not Kishimoto and no one cares what "you would've done". Plothole? No. Good idea that literally just happened and there hasn't been enough time for them to come up with a new way to hit him? Yes.

Huh? How is that related to what I said? I didn't say that the one holding the transformed rasengan clone wasn't a clone too, since we all know that Naruto can make lots of clones and it's not the first time he did this stunt/style.

wasted chakra...? naruto has SHITLOADS of chakra... i think in percents we are talking about 1% for naruto or 20% for kakashi...

The question is simple a simple clone technique can't work on the sharingan or the rinnegan. Also they needed to trick Tobi how would Naruto turned into a rock thrown at Tobi a good plan? He'd know Naruto was waiting in his demention. Kakashi had to sacrifice some chakra to make it work.
