[Discussion] How did Hashirama get his strength?

What are your thoughts / theories on this topic?

I was reading this when I thought of this:

Even if they (1st / madara) were "decendants" of the elder/younger son and So6P...how did they become incredibly strong of all those before them - their ancestors?

They both seem to have their brothers who helped them become strong, but i dont think that is the only reason they were able to become so strong.
