Mysteries of Kunlun Mountain
The Voyage
“To ask why we fight… is to ask why the leaves fall… it is in their nature… perhaps there is a better question”
When I am at sea, the sweet mist fills my lungs and the cool breeze entangles itself in my hair. There is nothing like the sea, it is truly a great gift. The moon shines down on the great ocean, illuminating the earth. Looking out across the ocean, it seems like you are looking into the stars above, you cannot see past it. There is nothing like standing on a great ship listening to the waves hitting the rail. My name is Thomas Havers, I am a young captain on board the great ship, Victory, en route to a distant land.
Seaman: “Captain, the mist is too thick we cannot see where we are headed!!!”
Thomas: “We have been sailing in this mist for a long time… Lieutenant what are our coordinates…”
Lieutenant: “Sir… I’m sorry we should be near the coast soon…”
Thomas: “I already know that Lieutenant… tell me something I don’t know!”
Lieutenant: “Well sir… we lost trail of the enemy…”
Thomas: “Lieutenant!!! Use every resource you have to find that ship… everyone to their stations, turn off the lights!!!”
The lights in the mist were slowly disappearing, the mist was so thick that no man could see through it and the night was dark as the devils pit. The only thing I could see was a faint flash not far to the rear of our ship.
Thomas: “EVERYONE TAKE COVER!!!”
Suddenly without warning a huge cannon ball blasted through the mist, destroying the nearest cannon, blasting the leg of one of the seamen sending him falling off the ship.
Lieutenant: “MAN OVERBOARD!!!”
Thomas: “PREPARE THE CANNONS!!!”
Lieutenant: “But sir…”
Thomas: “I said prepare the cannons…”
Within the matter of minutes all cannons were in place, we waited in the mist for their next move, and suddenly out from the mist came the giant ship right to our left.
Thomas: “Fire!!!”
The cannons began to breathe fire from both sides, and the ships collided in a massive battle where splinters and cannon balls came from every side and the men were screaming out in pain, while the ship was falling apart.
Suddenly during the massive battle and confusion the enemy boarded our ship with swords, spears, everything they got.
Thomas: “We have been boarded… take arms!!!”
I ran down to aid my men, drawing my sword as the enemy slaughtered everyone around me, the monsters overwhelmed us from every side, and as I finally stood face to face with the enemy captain I finally realized who I was dealing with. The enemies are truly monsters, they are twice the size of a man, green skin and furious red eyes, wearing giant metal armor and they look like real trolls.
Thomas: “Oh god…”
The giant monster took its giant blade and smashed it down towards me, though I quickly noticed that they were incredible strong but slow, and used it to my advantage to quickly slide to the side letting the monster fall forward into the railing, smashing the sword out of his hand. As I ran forward thrusting my blade towards him another green monster jumped in front hitting me in the face with a giant hammer sending me flying off the ship into the water with broken rips and blood dripping out everywhere.
I thought I had been lying at the coast of a strange land for a long time, but when I looked up, I saw both ships beginning to sink, as the masts and the hull of the ship was completely crushed and I saw dead bodies all over the coast, but suddenly I heard a monster yell in the distance inside the giant jungle, and I knew one of them had survived and I had to find and kill it.
I took up my broken sword and a giant wood stick and sharpened it into a spear, before heading into the mysterious jungle hidden in the mist. I travelled through the jungle upwards into the rocky hills and as I got closer I began to notice several statues with ancient inscriptions and bridges above me going from one side to the other, though everything was overgrown with plants. As I stood there with my own made spear, I heard something above me, and turned around to see the green monster yell at me before it jumped down right into me smashing me into the ground and throw me across what seemed like a small yard.
Thomas: “Now I see why we were told not to engage in battle alone against those creatures…”
???: “You men are so pathetic… you think of us as stupid monsters… but never realize our true powers…. Now you must die!!!”
I quickly dashed at him with my spear thrusting it towards him, and as he was going to grab my spear I quickly duck under his fist kicking him right in his chest sending him several feet away hitting and destroying one of the statues. He stood up and easily broke one of the small hammer looking statues off, using it as a weapon he rushed at me, using one hand to block my spear while smashing the hammer into my chest sending me into a giant bell hanging in the garden, as the sound rung out into the entire jungle.
Thomas: “Why did you even follow us out here!!!”
???: “No particular reason… we just want to kill you…”
We both dashed at each other with amazing force, while he was about to smash the hammer down onto my spear from above, suddenly out from the thick mist a huge bamboo staff blocked both of our weapons as a creature dashed right between us, smashing us away from each other disappearing in the mist again.
Thomas: “Wha.. What the hell was that…. *ugh*…”
???: “Is this one of your stupid tricks!!!”
Suddenly he heard a voice behind him and as he turned he smashed the hammer right into a small statue, and right behind the statue he saw a black and white face with a straw hat on, but before he could make a move, the beast jumped gracefully over the statue using the bamboo staff to manipulate the mist in such a manner he made it look like smoke, sending it into the green beast blurring its vision, while deflecting the hammer and kicking him in the chest sending him right into me making us both fall easily.
Thomas: “Is… is that a… a panda…”
The Panda stood in front of us with his bamboo staff and blue ripped clothes on and a straw hat covering his face partly, and a small straw in his mouth.
I dashed at the panda, now with my sword drawn thrusting my sword forward several times, but he easily dodged my every move simply by moving from side to side with his body, still noticing the monster coming from behind, and as I made a sideways slash, he quickly duck down making me hit the monsters hammer away so that it didn’t hit him. Before I could do anything the Panda struck me in the back sending me right into the monster being hit by the hammer sending me into the dirt.
Thomas: “Argh!!!”
At the same time, the Panda quickly pushed the bamboo staff into the monsters shoulder while moving it in circles easily forcing the hammer out of his hands, grabbing it with a single hand and putting it back in place, and then it just stood there smiling at us, as we stood there looking at it.
Thomas (Inner thoughts): “You have got to be kidding me… a panda that knows how to fight… what’s next… it can talk…”
I slowly handed my spear to the monster beside me as we stood there in awe, he just smiled at us as we rushed towards him, while the monster thrust his spear forward, and the panda quickly pushed the spear aside with his staff while using his giant claw to smash him into the ground. As I thrust my blade towards him he again easily deflected my sword with his staff while then planting it between my legs pushing me upwards throwing me over his head onto the bridge.
He quickly made a front flip over me and as he landed on the other side both I and the monster had recovered. We both attacked him together slashing down from above, trying to smash the staff out of his hands, and as soon as the staff was smashed out of his hands and we thought we had him, he quickly kicked it right into our chests making us both fall right into the ground. He then grabbed the staff in midair and smashed the staff into the ground making the mist disperse around us and simultaneously make a small shockwave sending us further away from him.
We slowly sat up and as we looked at the panda from afar, he stood looking down into a giant valley, filled with rocks, temples, houses, bridges; it was a whole civilization of pandas. You could see nothing but house in the entire valley and pandas working or training combat as far as the eye could see. As we sat there, the panda took a small bucket of water onto his bamboo staff before looking at us with a smile, and then he began walking down the long road as the wind blew through his fur and the leaves were flying through the air right past his head, it seemed like a peaceful place.
“Why do we fight?... to protect home, and family… to preserve balance and bring harmony…. For my kind the true question is… what is worth fighting for…”
