This is my theory as to why Tobi might be Obito. It seems to farfetched that Tobi either randomly stumbled onto Obito and took his eye or that he was pursuing him and made the cave collapse to take it. What if, and i know this is a stretch, that when the Kyubi attacked the leaf that it was the real Madara that controlled him. Since Madara gave the Rinnegan to Nagato, it is not that completely out of the question that Madara was still alive during the attack. What if Madara actually saved Obito and used Zetsu to fix his crushed body, as seen when Tobi fights Konan that there was white gunk dripping from his arm. Madara, knowing he was gonna die soon, made the akatsuki so he could start the war so he could be revived and he actually wants the Juubi for himself, with Tobi's help.

loved the episode... fyi tobi is not obito.... its impossible for obito to know anything about madara and tobi fought minato without any knowlegde of his speed, obito would know

just a quick thought.... does anyone remember when tobi told saske about the uchiha massacre.... saske discovered that itachi wasnt alone during that night.... meaning he had other uchiha help.... tobi never admtted to being itachis accomplice
What about Madara coming back and magically releasing himself from Edo? Itachi too? Orochimaru coming back from being "sealed?"
It doesn't hurt to follow the timeline, but if Kishi wants it to be Tobi and **** up his own story only to explain it later he can. So counting it out completely is being somewhat arrogant.
I'm starting to believe the whole Zetsu/cloning theory. Zetsu is still a mystery, so is Tobi. It's obvious Zetsu is very unique as in he, was his own army of 100,000 that were improved by Hashirama DNA, travels anywhere he wants, has 2 seperate sides, records everything, still calls Tobi by Tobi, has almost no motives. Those 2 just seem too close and we don't know either of their pasts.

For anyone that discredited the theory of Tobi and Obito being the same character: shame on you! The author is clearly giving the audience clues as to how this is possible.
First, lets begin with Tobi's "Time and Space" jutsu. In the last read Kakashi mentioned that Tobi is able to traverse time and space, by moving different body parts to another dimension. If you notice how Tobi moves from one destination to another, it is usually through his Sharingan. A good example of this, was fight between him and Minato, where during the battle Minato threw his blade at Tobi, but it went through him.
With this in mind, lets move to the question that many skeptics have when discussin the Tobi & Obito theory. That is, how can Obito be old enough to have released the Nine Tail on Konoha while being the same age as Kakashi? And more importantly, how could be had survive the rocks crushing him to death. The answer: Time and Space Jutsu
To conclude, my theory is this: Tobi—or should I say Obito—has the ability to time travel, which allows him to play a larger role in the history of Naruto. Second, his Time and Space jutsu allows him to phase through objects which can explain why he was able to survive the rocks caving in on him. I know this is far fetch, but it is probably the direction that the author is heading pending no drastic changes. Your thoughts please!

i give this chapter a 5 star just because it had left alot of mystery but in my opinion i def dnt think dat tobi is obito because if u guys recall tobi fought minato n obito was d same age as kakashi so basically his just to young i mean i guess he had used d same jutsu as orochimaru uses. if anything i think it culd b izuna as many of u said but i really think its d sage just because d ocular powers came frm him and its ironic how tobi got both of the eyes n he let all the tailed beast escape so dat not one nation could have all d power hopin peace would b reached but as he culd c it wasnt working out so he has came out again to gather all the beast well dats just my opinion n i knw ders a lot of holes in it but i guess well just have to wait till it is revealed ^_^

MY PREDICTION:
We wont find out more about Tobi in the next few chapters. Most likely by the end of the coming chapter, the scene will switch back to the other two major scenes (madara or sasuke). most probably it will go back to Madara because its been a while since we have seen their fight.
tbh, i didnt really expect us to see so much of the naruto/tobi fight until madara's fight was over.
what will sasuke do? i still have no idea, but hope he turns good soon.
if what you said is true, then i hope madara reveals it ... i highly doubt tobi would reveal it himself unless he was about to be defeated, which would be too soon (meaning only 2-3 chapters away for tobi to lose).

dont really agree here. i dont know what "gaiden" means, but unless it directly means Kakahi's "past in his eyes", then i dont think your accusation of kakashi lying is plausible. why would kakashi lie in the first place? plus, wasnt those 6 chapters just an insight to how kakashi got his sharingan - not from his perspective - but just a general story by kishi?
